Born and raised in California and still live here. I know a good thing when I see one. All the gazillionaires who pass through and move to avoid the billionaire tax are eating their hearts out. There is no other state like Cali. They seriously can GFT. Location, location, location!

It is the most diverse landscape I've ever lived in. I won't leave it until I'm dead. From my beloved Lost Coast to the vulcan Southern Cascades to Golden Gate Park, it is my state. It grabbed me in 1969. "Welcome to the Hotel California. You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave."

Traveling from Texas to Cali is revelatory just because the contrast is so obvious. You know what California doesn’t do? Put big ol’ California flags all over because it doesn’t need to insist on itself.

Sort of like MAGA and Trump flags. I want a Dem to come out and say we will never sell you a blue hat with bumper sticker slogans or put our faces on the American flag 🇺🇸.

I love getting my neighbors/coworkers mad by telling them that they seems like crazy exes being so obsessed with California because Californians don’t think of them at all.

Well I've made that trip six times in the last six months and what California doesn't do either is give you unbelievable huge expenses of mostly untouched wilderness to look at for hours on end

My man, we have Yosemite and Joshua Tree and the Mojave desert and Mount Shasta and The Sierra Nevada and the Redwoods and the PACIFIC OCEAN, believe me we’re spoiled for huge expanses of untouched wilderness.

They, uh, do like to talk about how much they like California and how they just couldn’t ever imagine living anywhere else, the quality of life just doesn’t compare, and then they look at you and realize what they said to you, a non-Californian, and then you find something else to talk about.

Raised a rural Coloradan, I always find the psychology of enthusiastic Texans curious (I work with many). My favorite was a coworker who insisted that the shape of Texas was the best shape for a cookie. It was both a thing I never thought of before as well as a rationale that was…debatable
