Fuck of with that "some things are less egregious than others" bullshit. There text of a video game are one of the first impressions someone will have with it.
My Walgreens put the tidepods behind a plexiglass case. They did not put all the other pod like brands behind a case. Did people not swallow all mighty pacs or Arm & Hammer power paks?
Does Steam have allow searching
Or filtering by AI? That is I want to know which games not to get before I am in the checkout with them because of bad rec or a sale and miss the qualifier. I’d like to block all games with ai assets. I also want to leave bad comments on the developer’s social media.
With how big my backlog is atp, and grossly inflated prices for hardware required to play a good chunk of newer AAA games, I'm having a really easy time avoiding these.
The writer showing he holds translators to be valueless people should end his career as a writer.
Every single translator is more important to the industry than you are.
I'd rather see a thousand games "journalists" out of work than a single translator. You're a bad person, Shaun.
Remember whoever wrote this article, saying translations being done by AI is acceptable is just green lighting your job being replaced by AI one day.
Every single human who works on a game is contributing to its success, they deserve to have the ability to continue doing that.
AI translating games is less egregious??? Huh???
I read the highlight first and thought this was going to be about code which is still wrong but that's insane. I don't want to read text in a game that a human didn't even bother to write fuck off.
When I looked at new releases a couple weeks ago I opened every single page and expanded all the sections to make sure, to the best of my ability, I was not supporting or wishlisting a single game which used any genAI in any capacity. It took forever -_-
Your job is next, you know?
The goddamn nerve of some people! This is one of the most obnoxious, reality-divorced takes I have heard coming out from the hallowed halls of gaming journalism. Do you even understand... idk, words?
What a short-sighted thing to write.
I feel like studios that get caught lying about that deserve a lifetime ban from the platform... Granted I think studios that use it at all deserve a lifetime ban.
Guess y'all wouldn't mind if your articles got machine translated then, huh?
Either way, I have a backlog comprised of several years of gaming, plus lots of stuff I constantly revisit. I don't need this and I can wait until the bubble pops.
