Ahh this is so cool to see and makes me very excited to hop onto godot for a little project soon. Also as someone else making a game around buildcraft it's really interesting to see how you're going about it, I'm having a lot of those weird unity issues atm 😅

The same night I made this, I discovered our stats architecture had emergently manifested a feature I hadn't implemented yet. If you sell a member who has items equipped, the sell price reflects the value of the items too. I never coded that!

I wasn't planning to, I'm gonna make it so items just get unequipped before the sale. But as mentioned, an item's stats are just a list of the things they buff on their owner. One of them is price. In this game, people also have a price. So the items you wear are all "buffing" your price.

That actually seems kind of useful if it's the sort of game you're frequently selling lots of people and gear. Like a "sell stuff also?" toggle

I've had bugs turn into features before, but I've never had "it's a bug that this feature works, it just sort of made itself."

I understood probably less than half of the video, but I sure as hell can get behind “make it as elegant and pleasing for myself as possible.” The stats system looks ideal, I can’t imagine putting up with anything more complicated than that.

Me, 10 minutes into a screen share presentation as I notice my coworkers eyes completely glazed over

Haha I saw you start explaining having a script preload its own scene and was like NONONO IT SEEMS LIKE IT WORKS BUT IT'S A TRAP right before you explained exactly why doing so is a cursed hard-to-diagnose footgun. 😂

Just wanna say the UI in your game is already looking fantastic (the game itself seems fascinating too) Thanks for making this video, seems informative so far!

Love to see another game developer I admire give Godot a chance! Can't wait to see the video and I hope you keep enjoying your Godot journey!
