It's crazy they even used 'democratization' term. Also the prompt is eerily similar to the one they used in the recent trailer.

Remember in 2017 at Devolver's conference where they also promoted this as a joke which caused people to bleed from their eyes and resulted in Nina Struthers' head exploding

This announcement killed game dev for me so bad I haven't touched it for almost 3 years. The only reason I have at all is cause a VRChat world needed to get finished. Still need to sit down & learn Godot.

The demo is so awful that I suspect it's just shit companies do for investor sentiment these days. They're operating in climate where Unity stock crashed because of things like Google Genie, which is just a glorified video generator and is nowhere near making game engines irrelevant, yet...

At least Google had the foresight to take "don't be evil" out of their mission statement before going all in on the corporate dystopia thing. Though people are right to roast them for that too.

Wait so if that was an April Fools' Joke, what was the actual thing that created random video games that came out around the same era? Games By Angelina? Was that a prank too? I see the webpage is still up and they were still seemingly updating it until the late 2010s

That feature, besides showing delusion, shows a total lack of respect for the thousands of creators who have been using the engine for years (sometimes for decades) and are serious about the engine and features being added.
