Why are people praising this post if he ends it with "The only reason why I don't use genAI is that it's not good enough. If it were, I'd totally use it, even though I know it's trained on stolen work and destroys our planet?" For me, it's worse than if he had some accidental AI slop in his video.

He is loaded. He doesn't need to make those videos faster. Yet he says he would totally skip paying an artist if it saved him money and time, and then paints people upset by genAI as AI industry stooges. I can't believe a privacy activist and anti-corporate personality wrote this.

Yes, sometimes AI witch hunts are wrong and misdirected, but he does admit that some AI slop slipped into his video. I wouldn't mind it if he said 'my bad', but instead he gets defensive about it and ends the post with "Is AI slop really that bad?" And "Let's not get overzealous about protecting IP"

He tries to justify it by saying that editing a video takes him 300 hours, so he wouldn't mind generating it if it let him create videos faster. But is spending 4 weeks creating a long-form video really that bad? He earns $30k a month from his Patreon + ad revenue from YT.

I think the main reason why he's so upset about Ukraine destroying AI data centers is that it shows how fragile is the economy relying on LLMs. A powerful opponent can take them all down in just one day and suddenly you're left with incompetent workforce without any skills.

Uh oh, did someone’s website and personal account experience a big drop in activity after Ukraine hit a Russian data center?

“An astonishing theft of unprecedented proportions” and the “largest theft of labor in human history” is what a Microsoft executive privately said about GenAi as shown in newly unsealed court filings. And these court filings get worse. These execs knew all along the immense theft they committed.

Eye popping. Court just unsealed Summary Judgment motions in New York Times v OpenAI / Microsoft. Easy to see why the AI companies had so many redactions (pink). Their own people wrote the lede for NYT, the "largest theft of labor in human history"... "more and more substitutive..." /1

I really wish I could switch to Linux, but it still has no program that works well with PSDs created in Clip Studio Paint, and I need that for work. 😔

Big tech paused CA’s GenAi transparency bill AB412 behind closed doors. However, over 3.8 million creative workers have come together to demand transparency! This coalition isn’t going anywhere! Its sponsors, CAA, SAG AFTRA, NAVA Voices & The Author’s Guild have next steps! Here’s what to do👇

"Samus's encounters with several parasitic alien organisms has left us to wonder just how much is left of the human. We can only hope the Samus entity remains on our side." #metroid

A graph that Tim Sweeney is not gonna like. The vast majority of people, even in countries where there is less stigma around genAI, want the use of AI in products and services to be disclosed.

If you’re if Sacramento or nearby, please consider joining a group of voice actors, performers, artists and writers to demand transparency from GenAi companies with AB-412! Rsvp for more info and please if you can go! Your presence can make all the difference!

Our Voices are NOT their trade secret. Join NAVA in person THIS MONDAY 3pm at the Capitol in Sacramento to show your support for AB412, the AI Transparency Act. We need your voices in that room to show how much the voice over community cares.

They could make like twenty GTA 6 with that kind of money.

Hoyoverse has confirmed they are investing $14.6 billion into AI over the next 3 years. They aim to make their own internal AI ecosystem including its own training and servers to fuel future development of its games. #Hoyoverse www.gamingonphonebiz.com/hoyoverse-pl...

"It’s a big experiment for me, and I will be as cautious as possible with AI. Artists driving tech, and not the other way around, is my goal..." He sounds like Napoleon from Animal Farm - it's okay to abuse animals as long as it's the animals that do it.
