The thing is, the head of the FCC threatened to pull licenses. That’s an existential threat to ABC/Disney. Literally put them out of business as a broadcaster. Now maybe that would (should) be overturned in the courts, but in the meantime they could be off the air. Weaponization of government.

They are corporations, they have a duty to their shareholders to stay in business. Disney has already had a war with Florida’s DeSantis which was costly. I don’t expect a publicly traded company to be brave. I expect more of this since it’s worked twice now. Critics will be silenced.

The only current hopes are court cases working towards SCOTUS (and them reversing this stuff) and the population letting thier elected representatives know they WILL be turned out in the next election if they don’t start blocking this in House and Senate. Good luck!

I think it was really because Kimmel pointed out Trump skipped Charlie Kirk's Kennedy Center event to play golf, & when asked how he was holding up after Kirk's death, Trump instead talked about construction of the ballroom Kimmel said Trump was mourning like a 4th grader over a goldfish Snowflake

Initiated by Nextstar refusal to air Kimmel. They're seeking FCC merger approval giving them 85% US market access & FCC to override <34% market limit. DT wants license pulled from 97% that "don't like him". Next we'll have one state approved news source like other dictator countries. Stand w/Jimmy ❤️

This is what Kimmel said: “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it”. He was pulled because Trump wanted it.

We stopped watching network tv in our home a long time ago. Netflix, British/Canadian/NZ crime shows, old TV shows are our entertainment. Not a big fan of “reality tv”.

It's not lost on me that we've seen talk show hosts fired by the two networks that had previously capitulated to demands from this corrupt administration. It's also not lost on me that they've become targets because our president watches entirely too much TV.

You need to understand that huge numbers of people only read the headline and he didn’t say anything about Charlie Kirk. He commented on MAGA’s exploitation of the tragedy.

Disney only owns 7 or 8 ABC networks. It was Nexus, which is an owner of something like 28 ABC networks, that made the decision, which forced Disney to pull the whole thing since a show that can't air in half the country isn't feasible.

Where is the fight from these networks? Isn’t this a clear violation of the first amendment? I understand Nexstar capitulated, but isn’t Brendan Carr weaponizing his position and infringing on broadcaster’s 1A rights? JFC

It appears that we have abandoned any semblance of impartiality in favor of autocracy and made it pretty clear that you have to be able to conform to what the people making decisions about the content of what you see and hear.
