There is a narrative out there where these Finnish immigrants are lauded as battling racism. Wrong. This is shameful period of Finnish American history. These Finnish immigrants did not argue against the constinutionality of the Chinese Exclusion Act. No, they argued they were white.

And apparently, "model conservative" = "no criminal record" with all that implies.

They are not evil people, they are misled. But, I admit, that's easy for me to say as a person that has spent exactly seven days of his life in the USA (with no intention to change that for the foreseeable future, I might add)
