I really wish the EGS had better UX. I think many more people would use it if it did. For example, what basic feature is missing in this login window? "☑️ Remember me" I haven't had to 'log in' to steam for years, apart from on someone else's machine. For EGS, I have to actively log in every time.

Things I can’t understand, other than they simply aren’t a priority for Epic: 1. The slowness, as you said. 2. Web app is significantly faster than the desktop client BUT has no ability to see your own library other than checking transactions. I know they want to sell you more stuff, but cmon!

Overall, it seems like Epic’s approach rather than designing something elegant and usable is to throw resources at it until it mostly does what they want it to. Sometimes that resource is money and now apparently it’s CPU cycles. While I appreciate the free games, it’s hard to respect the process.

spent ages clicking around the other day apparently there's no way to see a big page just for a specific game in your library? The only option is to see your library as a list or to go to the _store_ page? It's dire

Another log in annoyance is that if you log in via Google, you're sent to the browser to auth your Google account, then back to EGS client, then you need a 2FA code for your Epic account which got emailed to the account you JUST verified you have access to. 4 program switches. Actively hostile UX.

Does EGS still seek admin approval every time it starts to try and install extra online services? It's yet another reason I try to avoid starting it. It's not user-centric at all. xP

One of the reasons I don't trust the egs. Everything seems so cheap I don't trust them that it is save to use and not losing my account because of a system hiccup

Yeah, its UX is the main reason I’m minimising interactions with that platform I couldn’t care less about loyalty to corporate digital storefronts, but Steam is just more pleasant and convenient to use

EGS is a program made in unreal engine itself. So there is the default UE cruft to work with already. But then on top of that it just loads and displays webpages. So the slowness is probably the combination of those 2.

Company that created the biggest and technically innovative gane engine, can't let a few of the engineers profile the gosh darn launcher. It feels like nothing is cached and all the textures are uncompressed. Even opening my game library is extremely slow.

I mean, come on man, look at how many times the Epic Games Store switches between dark and light mode by me just clicking around to buy a game. It's just so weird! And I really appreciate the free games. I bet a LOT of money goes into getting those games onto the store for free. But the UX sucks.

Or when you switch from the library to unreal, and again the whole UI changes. You can practically tell from a distance that these were built at different times by different teams, but then why are they placed in the UI as if they are on an equal level? There's just so much weird stuff going on.
