I wish people would post more links to interesting things I feel like Twitter and LinkedIn and Instagram and TikTok have pushed a lot of people out of the habit of doing that, by penalizing shared links in the various "algorithms" Bluesky doesn't have that misfeature, thankfully!

(In my ideal world everyone would get their own link blog too, but sharing links on Bluesky and Mastodon is almost as good)

I used to do this in the original blogger decades ago. I kind of did similar on Twitter and LinkedIn but I like the idea of owning the full catalog again

Reminds me of the post that was going around about someone using Bluesky for comments on their personal website. Seems like the same thing could be done for a link blog, where bsky link posts automatically populate on the site.

I too have a Hugo Blog and I've maintained a Django content publishing tool where I write and publish X/Twitter (now Bsky) posts. I've also added a feature where I make posts public so the text "stream" is accessible as a JSON list with a sliding window.

i really appreciate this because i've been a fan of your blog for a long time and i've always wondered what these unwritten rules and processes were, thank you for sharing!

Love the idea! I've been hoarding sooo many bookmarks and saved articles into a useless collection that I never read. If I start doing these blogmarks, with at least some comments about my read, I'll get more from it and maybe someone else will too.

Thanks for sharing, I couldn't agree more. Bringing back the old personal blogs instead of everyone's same Substack. I believe the future of blogging is connected, linked; it's easier to learn and write, as nothing happens in a silo. It's also more sustainable in the long term. #secondbrain

Thank you so much for posting the guidelines you set for yourself. It's exactly what I needed. I have had other blogs when I had time to write all day, every day. But now I was looking for a way to efficiently post meaningful content, and you outlined everything perfectly. Thank you!

Aspirations! Do you have a setup that allows you to post from your phone? Do you find that you use it? Or do you have some system to triage links you find on mobile to post later via desktop?

Yeah I post a lot of stuff from my phone, nothing fancy though - assemble my writing in Apple Notes (for backup, spelling correction and free sync to my laptop in case I want to switch devices) and then paste it into the Django Admin which is pretty good on mobile

I recently restarted my weblog and included a linkblog. I'm not a coder, but claude was able to help me write a linkblog Wordpress plug-in to do it from scratch in an hour.
