I'm so sorry to hear this! @helenbranswell.bsky.social was such an excellent source of reliable information. I found her and STAT through her coverage of Covid-19 but I continued to turn to her reporting in the years after for well-researched info. She will indeed be missed.

This is heartbreaking. She was THE trusted source for me in the cauldron of misinformation that permeated the pandemic and the last few years. My deep condolences to her family and her colleagues. If Stat could unlock her reporting, that would be a wonderful gift to us and a tribute to her work.

I’m so sorry for your loss and for all of us for not getting to read more of her work. Her account was the first science communication account I looked to during the worst of the pandemic, and I found so many more great voices by seeing who she was following & engaging with. Truly an inspiration.

I'm very sorry to hear of Helen's passing. What an enormous loss to all of us! During Covid I read everything she wrote because we were just learning about the virus and I trusted her. Rest in peace, Helen.
