Hey, Wormbrain! The written symbols we use to do math came from the Arabs! Remember “Arabic numerals”? If it weren’t for the Arabs giving us streamlined math symbols, we might still be trying to do maths with Roman numerals (!). Arabs were preserving learning when Europeans were in the Dark Ages.

Left unmentioned is how Turkish (Ottoman) and European imperial ambitions in the Arab world subjugated the people for centuries. If you subjugate people, deny them education and opportunities for advancement, they're not likely to advance.

In one day, two politicians - Bolsonaro in Brazil and Vucic in Serbia - with ties to Trump have lost surprise elections thanks to high turnout. The rise of the international far-right is not inevitable.

I cheer for Brazil. 👏👏👏 Amazing country that was the first country to institute a law to examine newborns for tongue ties. And they put their election-denying wannabe dictator in jail, where he will stay.

Don’t normalize fascists by participating in their “fun” events for “the sake of the children.” And no, you should not bring them to your Trump-supporting extended family on Thanksgiving. I love that my German grandmother refused to bring my mother to Nazi parades when she was a little girl.

While some Republicans have criticized Ramaswamy for siding with the people who allegedly raped Amy Acton *when she was a child* NOT ONE OF THEM has pulled their endorsement of him And of course the sexual abuser in chief and his equally vile VP think Vivek should keep showing the ad 10 days

The GOP rejection of the Ramaswamy ad - despite Trump and Vance's enthusiastic endorsements - doesn't indicate Republicans have regained moral sensibilities. It does indicate that Trump has lost a huge amount of political power.

I am in the process of repainting the house, and the physics of light and paint is just screwy. I excised paint chips from most of the rooms, and discovered that two colors had been used originally in multiple rooms. But each color look completely different in each room it was used in. Insane. 😵‍💫

JUST POSTED: Today at The NYT we are publishing a major investigation into how President Trump used his executive powers to expose millions of Americans to greater cancer risks. A six month-long investigation built on more than 10,000 pages of FOIA records. Read it www.nytimes.com/2026/10/24/c...

We need a federal constitutional amendment that gets rid of the president’s pardon powers. We also need the states to get rid of the governors’ pardon powers. These powers are part of what is corrupting democracy. Allow the head of an executive branch to order a re-trial. Not issue these:

When a worker wears an Amazon vest, drives an Amazon van and delivers on an Amazon-controlled route, but Amazon denies they work for the company — that's exploitation.

If it looks like an Amazon delivery and drives like an Amazon delivery, then it's an Amazon delivery, right? Not according to Amazon. Big companies like Amazon have built a vast network of subcontractors who deliver their packages while shielding them from accountability.

Whether public transportation is a viable option depends on where you work and live. Even in a place like Chicago it may not be an option. I drove because it would have taken me 2 hours each way by public transportation, but by car only 25 minutes in the morning and 45-75 minutes in the afternoon.

Ramaswamy has produced an attack ad weaponizing the rape of his opponent, Amy Acton, when she was 12 years old. It features Acton’s mother, who abandoned Acton after she was raped by her step-father, fleeing the state with her husband. Here is the corporate money helping fund that ad.
