The Quran was used by 14 MPs in 2024, and by Sagal Abdi-Wali this week, while 338 MPs swore on a bible, 3 including Rishi Sunak on the Bhagavad Gita, the Hindu holy book, while at least 249 MPs chose to affirm, without using a religious text, according to research in 2024 by the Humanists

Professor Goodwin seems to be feigning surprise that an MP who is a Muslim would swear the oath of allegiance on the Quran, NOT the Bible. Hannah Spencer took her oath on the bible [4 Greens affirmed in 2024] after defeating Goodwin in Gorton + Denton. [His own hypothetical choice is unknown]

Glasgow Govan was first constituency to elect an MP who was Muslim in 1997, followed by Birmingham Perry Barr in 2001. A quartet of Muslim MPs when Sadjq Khan elected in Tooting in 2005. About 26 MPs of Muslim faith/ heritage today: 4% of Commons. Muslims 6% of population, nearer to 4% of electorate

Mr Goodwin is a ex Professor. Like the parrot in Monty Python, Mr Goodwin’s Professorship is dead, no more, kaput. He is no more a Professor than I am the Angel Gabriel (& I can assure you I am not👍😄). A title of “Professor” can give a societal status of learning&knowledge - false in this instance🥹👇
