I feel sorry for kids who aren't encouraged to get outside and use their imagination. I loved skating on the sidewalks. Building snow forts in the winter. I loved climbing trees pretending to be a pirate or Robin Hood. Even playing marbles in the dirt with my brother. Yes I am a girl but so what. 🙂

Omg I loved marbles..and matchbox cars that you got behind the counter at the hobby store and they came in a little box..my neighbor and I used to make roads and play for hours..always a camping trip cuz we had campers and trailers

I loved playing marbles at school. I got so good I won many hundreds from other kids. I was obsessive. It did teach me a valuable lesson about money and stuff. It's pointless to keep trying to beat others to extract from them more and more of what you ultimately don't really need and can't ever use

my grandfather gave me a well worn mickey mouse tool box filled with such a wide array of marbles that they must have been gaming spoils. he had used them as filler in an oil lamp. i don't know where the marbles went :) but i still have the lamp

In case anyone is wondering, that color is created by dropping pearls of colored glass into the middle of the clear glass base. They're known as "cat's eyes". The glob is then stretched out as the cooling hunk of glass is spun into a ball inside the lehr.
