They won’t deny providing insurance - these companies will happily take your money. What they do deny is actual medical coverage when people need it. They’ll charge you an arm and a leg, but when you need an actual arm or leg, they’ll say it’s not “medically necessary” and deny coverage.

Dear God, Please send angels and common sense to my sis that voted to have her Grandson’s healthcare compromised. You’ve heard our prayers for 18 years after he was born with Dandy Walker Syndrome, a hole in his heart, and one kidney. Without Obama his parents would be bankrupt. Amen.

But is it a hit? How does removing that individual change their practices? We need legislators willing to regulate them instead of giving in to their lobby. That person's death changes nothing for anyone.

On the hate for health insurance execs; Thoughts and deductibles to their friends & family Unfortunately my condolences are out-of-network Which of you ignoramuses think your life will be better after Trump and his evil demons gut health care?

Who remembers all the right wing claims about "death panels" during the uproar over Obamacare? My wife was an accountant for a hospital. She saw medical billing from the inside. "Death panels" have existed for many decades. But they're not called that - they're called insurance companies.

My feeling is this changes nothing. The next CEO will just have better security. These companies care as little for this loss as they do for the insured. They saved 10 million.

The mainstream media is eager to brainwash people into thinking that this is some horrible act that people are outraged over. Meanwhile the #UnitedHealthCare FB post announcing their CEO's death is at 50K laugh emojis. they had to shut off the comments too. You're not supposed to harm your betters!

The only experience I have of 'US healthcare' was treating a tourist from the US in the UK. The guy was having a STEMI, and while we were blue lighting him to a nearby cardiac centre, he kept going on about insurance and how much this would cost. This was his main concern while his life was at risk.

It's more like...shrug. What do you expect after years of systemic abuse and increasing inequality? People are feeling more powerless and desperate. As that increases, what do you think we can expect?

I think this is the truth of it. I despise violence. But the death of man at the head of an organization hosting a conference to find ways to make even more money by denying health care & thereby causing unneeded pain, disability and death to hundreds of thousands is irony if not karma at its best.

I feel bad for what happened. However, many people have suffered at the hands of insurance companies, and people are angry and hurting as a result. Many of us don't know how we will afford our next big medical bill, meanwhile these guys are getting rich at our expense.

A father recently said this to the drunk driver that killed his daughter. “For the rest of my life I’m going to hate you. And when I arrive in hell and you come there, I’m going to open the gate for you,” Warner continued. Who creates that sentiment thousands of times? Insurance companies.

Insurance companies are a scam. Over the last 50 years they have become middle-men in the biggest rip off of the American people. We have to de-couple medical insurance with employment and make it a non-profit industry. Universal healthcare.

I can’t fathom how people can work for the same Company and not feel badly that their employees are struggling to put food on the table while they’re driven to work in a LIMOUSINE. Rich people don’t get it. Inequality like this isn’t SUSTAINABLE. Eventually people will REVOLT, even AMERICANS!

Now I’m starting to understand the expression, EAT THE RICH. These RICH people don’t understand the sleeping TIGER (middle class & poor) in their midst. One day some catalyst will push people over the edge. They think it’s Dem vs. Rep. It’s NOT just that. The UBER wealthy walk all over us.

What are you even talking about? Does your idea of fixing it involve assassination? If so, congrats, you’re a violent extremist and a horrible human being. You’ll never see any positive change. You’re no better than MAGA. Personally, I think universal healthcare would be a better solution.

That’s the fun (and marginally psychotic part), how do you intend to get that through. Answer: you can’t, it won’t happen. I love your whataboutism. It’s really funny. Maybe I am psychotic, maybe I like the revolution, but I’m not claiming to be on a high horse like your pathetic excuse for a take.

How many murders in NYC and they don't close all the bridges?! Sadly, one RICH, POWERFUL WHITE person gets killed and the city is closed, and has wild media coverage. Don't tell me beng RICH, WHITE and POWERFUL doesn't get a different treatment. DENY, DEFEND, DEPOSE.

I have a rather dark sense of humor, and while I can't/won't speak for anyone else... I find it absolutely gut-busting, especially now that other health insurance companies are walking back awful/punitive policies like time limits on anesthesia. The message was apparently received.

As an on looker from over the pond, I am astounded that one CEO's murder gets so much coverage and outrage Was the outrage for the pain, suffering and refusal to pay up for what people had, allegedly, got insurance cover for, as loud? I didn't think so

Sorry about what happened to the CEO, condolences to his family but it’s time for CEO’s to stop robbing the poor for their highlife pleasures. We all want to buy million dollar homes. I’m guessing the tax breaks aren’t enough. Stop playing with people’s lives.

My mom who was diagnosed with stage 3C/4 ovarian cancer back in May/June had her PT/OT denied by UHC in August/September which delayed starting her chemotherapy that ultimately led to her death on November 20th. I’m alone trying to sort out her affairs after 20 years caregiving gofund.me/2221d470

I think a point that gets missed when we say it's an evil company is that a company is just a legal construct. It's not a real thing with the ability to take action. That falls to the people in charge of said company. A company is not capable of being evil, it's the people in charge of it who are.

Wasn’t justice…. How many have died because that fuckhead stole money while denying 1/3rd of claims… yeah no. Justice was served. The people’s justice. When they keep electing corrupt individuals or hiring them to run these mega corporations and use the police to stop protests… what the fuck else c-

We have systems, companies, employers, people in power, that make life miserable for large groups of people, sometimes in the tens of thousands. Our systems lack appropriate corrections because capitalism isn’t about creating jobs, it’s about the few who control the many. It’s unsustainable.

Reverse HMO Act of 1973 allowing profits to be made off your health. HEALTHCARE WAS A NON-profit business of healing people. Don’t stop talking about it until this law is reversed!!! Healing anyone of anything goes against the bottom line of business profits! Sick people are returning customers 🤔

Hey all - so I’m disillusioned with working for a tech company that essentially helps payers maximize profits. So if you have a job opening and could use someone with 22+ yrs experience in the healthcare industry with masters in both health admin and policy/law - hit me up!!

Yep they suck ass. Did you know if your kids are on your plan [until they turn 26] and they have a child, baby’s after-delivery costs aren’t covered in many states? It’d be minimal cost to insurers, but instead can be devastating cost to new parents - even with a routine birth.

I'm not laughing at him. I'm laughing near him. Pro tip: If one doesn't want people to celebrate when they die, maybe don't accumulate a Smaug-like horde of wealth by being a monstrous, vindictive, asshole while they are alive. Just a suggestion.

He may have been an absolutely wonderful person to his family and friends... ...but he was also the head of a company with a 32% denial of claims. A lot of people thrown under the proverbial bus. 🤔 Sorry for his family and friends... ...not for him..

You want to know why it’s funny? Because UHC is so outstandingly clueless that they believe that everyone should have sympathy because a serial murderer was murdered His death, while tragic, probably saves lives (to paraphrase Jack Nicholson’s Colonel Jessep)

Because the motto “Delay, Deny, Defend” is to the common people what a potentially concealed handgun is to a police officer You are justified in killing them because you believe your life might be in danger Now the next person to fill this job might decide to act differently

NOW, they might decide that it’s okay to actually provide the health care their clients pay for, because getting a new yacht just isn’t worth getting few bullets in the back and dying on a cold sidewalk

Some people are thinking that the risk of bullets in the back are not worth scamming that extra million dollars from poor people with nothing left to lose 🤷‍♂️

Don't do that. You know damn well there are people on here being extremely sadistic about this on here. I have literally seen people who are glad that his kids are growing up fatherless.

Once during a 24month period my husband and I paid $33,000 in medical bills...while having good insur. This year we paid $9000 for a 4hr heart procedure-he went home same day. One time we were charged $50 for the nurse to place a heating pad on my husband for 20 mins. after Open Heart Surgery.

There's no such thing as an ethical multimillionaire CEO of an American healthcare company. "It has to start somewhere It has to start sometime What better place than here? What better time than now?" ~Rage Against The Machine

It is terrible to rejoice in someone else’s suffering but this company did exactly that to millions of people so that they could “maximize shareholder wealth” Health insurance should be not-for-profit!

Then let’s not get our insurance from that company. I understand (boy, do I) the anger at insurance companies but people down right rejoicing over this man’s death is beyond disgusting.

As many have pointed out, most of us get ins through employers, who pick the ins co offering the best "deal". Also, UHC denies ONE THIRD of its customers' claims. That's 2X the industry average of 16%, aka: deliberately structured to screw the insured while taking their money. I have zero sympathy.

I would say insurance company board members and investors celebrating quarterly profits is the same only on a much larger scale. Not going to find much sympathy even among the most kindhearted.

Someone on fb snoozed me bcuz I shared the graph & said I was trying to justify the guy’s murder… 🤦‍♀️ I was sharing some facts & there was no humour involved. Still #grateful I live in Canada 🇨🇦

So many posts condoning/promoting the murder of "those we don't like". Politicians, the rich, CEOs etc. What if I don't like that the local school doesn't have free lunches for all? I don't like that. Does that mean I can shoot the principal with no regrets?

It would be just ‘awful’ if this was just the first shot. I ‘hope’ there aren’t any copy cats getting ideas to save our country from billionaires.

Ins companies are making a bunch of money here, but some providers have no trouble scamming or overcharging the system as well. Ins fraud is on the rise but they seem to have difficulty with enforcement & now the Next admin wants to deregulate all this. There is a whole bunch of blame to go around

I don’t want to put a target on my back at my new Bluesky home but I’m a Regulatory Reporting Manager for a health insurance company….. but I understand people’s frustration with the whole system.

I drive Uber part time. I had 4 people get in my car that sounded like they were in the health insurance industry. They talked about profits and how "we dodged a bullet with Trump being elected. I was livid. Almost pulled over on interstate to kick them out

On the other hand... Do we then say that breakthroughs in drugs, medical devices, or even years of study in medical school should not be so richly rewarded. Healthcare is a HUGE part of the economy, employing tens of millions... How socialist do we get with this?

I wouldn’t limit my hate to health insurance since auto and homeowners insurances also screw you over at every chance they get! Our highest monthly payments go to insurances! And they all deny a fair payout when we need them the most!

i understand that a corporations "duty" is to make money for its investors. to grow, capture market, spread. if that's at the cost of people's lives and well-being, then corporations are effectively the ebola virus or a malarial mosquito. i shed no tears when i end an mosquito.

Dude was essentially a psycho müdër3r and the media wants us to care about the "man hunt". Good grief, read the room! The best quote on 🧵 I have seen is "live your life in such a way that if you are 'mowed' 🔫 down, the nation doesn't spontaneously break out singing "Ding Dong, the witch is d3ad"!
