One of my favorite sci-fi shows of the decade—of the century!—is celebrating its third anniversary today. Scavengers Reign was a shooting star🌠, poorly supported by HBO Max and then Netflix (as it was only available in a handful of countries), but I'm so glad this one season exists.

i was thoroughly satisfied by the ending. 😅 there is a tease for future seasons, sure, but Levi and Azi’s story felt complete to me. i love this series so much.

When I heard this show suffered the fate of so many shows in this streaming era, I was heartbroken. Beautiful and brilliant and unique.

Oh man I loved this series in every way, music, environments, animation, the art style, pacing and world building are (he-he) out of this world 😎👉🏻👉🏻 I wish it had continued, but I feel it ended on a good place, even with that teaser.

You kept talking about it, until I finally watched it a couple years back. Beautiful, disgusting, haunting, amd sweet. A paradox of extraterrestrial horrors and the struggles of our imperfect humanity. I would easily watch ten seasons.

For those who love this atmosphere, check out Franco-Belgian sci-fi comics and movies. Absolutely an influence on this work, and some amazing stuff. For comics, the classic starter is "Aldebaran" by Léo. For movies, I recommend starting with "Les Maîtres du temps"

In a cosmic coincidence, I just got Jonathan Djob Nkondo's graphic novels Peaceful Remission and Wandering in the mail today. (He was an artist on Scavenger's Reign.) So excited!

That particular scene is one of my favourites of all time. The weird little dude living its life cycle as a part of the greater life cycle of the tube hedge, which in turn is a part of.... such a beautiful depiction that pulls you in and doesn't let go.
