The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot
A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead:

Kemi Badenoch wants to exempt the family home from inheritance tax.
But that creates a perverse incentive for elderly people to *upsize* to save IHT.
That could double the cost of the policy, and push £100bn+ from savings into housing.
A 🧵 on bad tax cuts.
🧵 As front-page headlines go, this has to be one of the most misleading I've seen in a long time
It's an out-and-out lie
But notice the trick they use to get away with it...👀
*They're* not lying - they're just quoting someone else who is👍🏻
In this case, the leader of the opposition🙄

THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION was released 32 years ago this week. One of the most popular films ever made, and among the greatest Stephen King adaptations, the making of story has as many secrets as a Rita Hayworth poster…

Not one to usually post about celebrity deaths but Dolly Parton seemed like one of those real true to herself kind and generous folk that was so inspiring. Used one of her songs as our first dance so she will always hold a special place for me.
One of the first "outrageous" claims I saw as Jason Arday's media hounding unfolded was that he ran 30 marathons in 35 days!
Wow!
What a thing to claim!
And the newspapers all suggested there was no evidence he actually did it.
Well, they clearly didn't look very hard 🙄

These marathons were one of his defining achievements.
And the British media pretended there was no evidence they happened.
That it was just something he 'claimed' to have done...
Now try and tell me their hounding was about "getting to the truth"
RIP Jason 😢

🧵You can't talk about Natalie Harp w/o talking about how strange she is. This isn't making fun of physique or bearing. It's about obsessive/creepy behavior. And it matters on policy.
As a former Republican media consultant, I can tell you that this attack is astonishingly effective w/the public...
If Muslims or members of the Asian and Black community had set fire to white people’s homes with children running for their lives, do you think we would be discussing legitimate concerns or focussing on who radicalised them and ideological and contributing cultural factors?
Just had a wild couple of days dodging drones and talking with people about the future of government in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Some of the most transformational 48 hours in my life.
Here are my reflections: open.substack.com/pub/civicpun...
STAR WARS was released 49 years ago today. Hollywood’s biggest movie phenomenon, and the film that launched the career of star Harrison Ford, the behind the scenes story is as spectacular as blowing up the Death Star…

Last day of the season and Villa have nothing to play for having achieved everything they wanted, never known anything like it as a Villa fan. Just get to enjoy it in party mode and feel for those who lose out, been there done that.
I’ve been hearing so much anger and disappointment from frontline workers about the BBC investigation into fraudulent asylum claims.
One of the most damning responses has come from one of the experts they interviewed, solicitor Ana Gonzalez. It’s really worth reading her response in full:
Hello and welcome on the Terry Sanford Federal Building in beautiful downtown Raleigh, NC where I will be live-posting a show cause hearing starting at 4:00 ET
Wow - this guy must be really, REALLY bad with money if an extra £208 per month will “ruin” his retirement.
Let’s take a look at his situation based on what he told the @Telegraph
Because this does NOT add up!
No, this is not a “poor pensioner” scrabbling around for pennies…

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.
They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1
Disney execs hastily assembling Andor S3 about a group of charismatic Coruscant businessmen who just keep their head down and work with the Empire until the Battle of Endor and then say they were actually against the Empire all along and everyone cheers
Labour promised to restore nature. ❌
Instead, their Planning Bill contains a licence to destroy it.
We offered solutions. We’re done waiting.
Part 3 of the Bill would gut the laws protecting our most precious habitats & species.
Without significant change, it must be scrapped.
ICE pretended to arrest a 21 yo in order to force her to call her undocumented mother to come leave the house (where she was safe from ICE arrest) to care for her baby. When the mother came, she was abducted and the daughter was suddenly of no interest to ICE.

Well done Labour
Anyone who thought you represented real change now despises you.
Anyone who didn’t, still won’t.
People who weren’t that convinced but hoped for the best are out of patience.
You’ve managed to turn off everyone.
Quite the achievement!
Thinking of my great uncle today, I have his letters written to my gran on my office wall at home. They are witty and warm and I'm gutted I never got to meet him. Still amazes me how young they all were.

1. We contacted the 100 largest American companies and asked a simple question:
Do you support the tariffs announced by President Trump on April 2?
These are tariffs that have already destroyed trillions of shareholder value
NOT ONE COMPANY WOULD ANSWER THE QUESTION
🧵 Trump’s Tariff Tantrum!
How AI, a failure to recognise discrepancies, a penchant for dictators, and some poor penguins crashed the markets….

NYU canceled a planned speech by the former president of Doctors Without Borders because she planned to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and cuts to US AID.
This is what actual campus censorship looks like.
New: Mark Zuckerberg was warned he'd die in prison. Tim Cook said those who led the "shameful" insurrection "should be held to account." Google's founder said he was "deeply offended" by Trump's first win. Now all have fallen in line, giving $1 million to Trump's inaugural fund wapo.st/3PzjIC1
