Please don't share videos or images of autistic children (or adults) having meltdowns. You likely wouldn't want someone exposing your most vulnerable moments without your permission, and autistic people deserve the same respect and privacy. Spread the word. #neurodiversity #autism #autistic

Imo don't share (I mean like, not produced with an eye for public consumption of course) videos of kids at all imo, I would get pissed if someone recorded me candidly and shared it online so why would people be ok with doing it to kids?

We don't post images of us online at all. It's a global noticeboard. Once that's out there, there's no taking it back or preventing anyone else from doing whatever they wish with that. So no. No photos/images of us.

There are even one or two I’ve seen where the meltdown was handled very well and the parent stayed very calm and kind, but even if you’re handling things well it’s still not your video to post !! Unless it is in fact of your own meltdown in which case I guess I cannot stop u

I turn into The Witch from Left 4 Dead during my worst meltdowns. Mind my own business & cry until you get too close. Then I emit a scream that haunts your nightmares & I try to kill you 🙃 It’s traumatizing to me & other folks. I’m not embarrassed by it, but I don’t want to put that on others.

I never liked Parents that post Their child's meltdowns. As a parent who happens to be Auadhd and have an Autistic child I rather not have our meltdowns not be posted across the internet.

I cannot tell you just how many times working as an Autistic professional that I have had to say this to parents.. I remind them what it would feel like if they were filmed being emotional and overwhelmed . Thankfully it works most times

Children in general should not be exploited for financial gain or clout when they cannot consent to it. The same goes for autistic adults/children. If they have not given consent (or can't) to using images or video of them, you shouldn't be able to. Especially not of a moment like that.

*Without unambiguous consent from the individual. I did once see a video an autistic adult posted themselves in which they were having a meltdown and their service dog intervened. They shared it to demonstrate the dog’s training. That’s obviously quite different.
