Conservative backlash was supposed to put an end to the DEI movement as companies were warned “go woke, go broke”. But new research shared exclusively with the Guardian found that companies that kept their DEI practices performed just as well as their competitors who pulled back.

I haven't been in a McDonald's since. How dare they. That chain is always in minority neighborhoods, sometimes the only 'restaurant'. I had a little ritual...fries and sweet tea for a long drive. At least once a week. I'm sure they don't miss me. But it's the intention. Stand strong on your ethics.

Rich people nepotism woke is the shitty version. In US online security at DHS is a 19 year old pizza boy whose mom donated to TACO boy I would take anyone better qualified. Likely. A non white since whites dont study much.

Companies run by people who ignore the passing fad of “anti woke” nonsense perform better than people who think it’s important to brown nose Trump. Why is this a surprise to anyone? It seems to me to be a management competence issue.

DEI isn't about hiring minorities without merit, it's about NOT excluding minorities from the hiring process because of their minority status. For example, black people are advised to use white sounding names on their resumes because black names are excluded more based solely on their name.

I think his final statements cuts both ways. What if a copy veered way right & stood its ground against pressure from a democratic leaning administration. We’ve, of course, had that in the past & know how some of those situations worked out. There’s a lot to unpack here.

I'd argue that in the long run those companies who continued to welcome and seek diverse employees and customers will do better than those who were happy to deny they are seeking diversity. My gay money spends the same as some straight white boys cash.

For most businesses it is just fostering the idea that they welcome anyone's labor and money. Making it extra funny when businesses turned against it and permanently damaged consumer confidence.

When everything is becoming more expensive anyway, it was just easy to avoid places I didn't like. There is no real argument that I would "save money" by going to Walmart for anything, so I just don't.

The parents and grandparents of the anti-DEI folks were fine with DEI so long Satchel Paige did not pitch in the majors. Black kids didn't get fair educations, and still don't. When they could not be doctors or lawyers or pilots. They were fine with DEI.

#ETTD trump is a LOSER. His bigoted, racist ideas are losers. He is amassing money for himself - NOT b/c he is smart - but b/c he is STEALING from the U.S. taxpayers. Companies that comply with his demands are or will be LOSERS too.

Yes-ish, but not statistically speaking (at the 95% confidence level), which is probably why they let the reader see the graph and why they (responsibly) included the error margins.

Also, that graph is only for a handful or trading days. Doing a similar analysis over multiple quarters would be better evidence.

The story we want to tell (that moral and ethical companies who care about employees and customer perform better) is going to take more than seven days of stock market data anyway. I *badly* want doing the right thing to be profitable. Whether that’s the case isn’t shown here, statistically.

Maybe in the long run, but that sort of evidence would not likely show in the very brief 7-day window of the study.

Perhaps MAGA is finally discovering that DEI standards are not what's getting in the way of opportunities for their wanker white, male adherents. It's their lack of talent, skills (technical and social), knowledge, curiosity, discipline, ambition and work ethic.

Yea no shit... And the idea that companies not going broke for hiring a deverse workforce counts as "news" in the USA just shows how far the country has slid into the swamp. Do some real reporting, your country is crumbling and the best you have is "Diverse workforces still make money 😮"?

Agreed, the article very poorly represents the full swing of the results. The only graphic is a worthless chart. The researcher hints that the days is much longer term, but few dates are given.

Really??? Research? But ok. Bc we know he’s full of BS! Smart companies hire smart ppl and use DEI as a way to elevate their position using their ppl’s diverse viewpoints and ideas. But that view too complex for this neanderthal regime and doesn’t produce a bad guy to hate.
