And the thing is most of them arent even doing any work. They have to stay in the office until their boss leaves whenever that is, so you have to make it look like you're busy when you're not.

They feel like you've let the company, and your colleagues down. The social contract in Japan is the company will give you a job for life and you do exactly as they say. They'll exploit you, work you to near death and pay you shit money, but you'll never be fired.
