Great goals overall! As a dev making a commercial game, I particularly hope yall are able to follow through on "Runs on hardware people own" — the most vexing issues I've been running into are graphic driver incompatibilities and crashes. They're hard to detect and extremely difficult to diagnose.

Having to maintain running in both compat and Forward+ is a tax (I'd switch to fully compat if not for the intense shader stutter due to lack of precomp). Graphics driver issues are currently the biggest reason that I'd caution somebody considering switching to godot for their commercial studio.

I fully agree, it's incredibly frustrating that GPU driver updates tend to break Godot once in a while. We hoped switching to D3D12 by default in 4.6 would solve things, but it turns out GPU vendors also like to brick their D3D12 drivers occasionally.

It's not a Godot-specific issue though, I regularly see mentions of similar problems with Unity and Unreal games. But regressions in drivers get fixed faster when they're affecting one of the Big Two.

Thanks for the reply! I'm less experienced with U/U so kinda assumed they had it more on lock. Love Godot & the work y'all do for it!

Godot really does it best though. When it comes to launching the software, Unity and Unreal take AGES to open with tons of lag. Godot opens instantly, gotta give props to them for being able to do that
