When I saw this painting I was shocked, because I had an eerily similar dream over twenty years ago! I call it the “horse corpse” dream. Instead of water, the horses were packed like sardines under the floor’s stone slabs. The screams down the hall were people being chased by undead horses.

As a horse owner and someone already scared of eery ass tunnels (especially with water), that sounds absolutely horrifying. And I thought zombie dreams were bad enough 😭

Wow that look so dang cool. To me the Bone Horses look kinda peaceful in the water. Also, the textures on the walls look nice and the darkness makes that hallway look kinda endless. Lovely work.

I got a question, since this popped up again for me: Were the skeleton horses moving, or did they just float there eerily?

yknow cause those are prey animals and they have eyes on the sides of the head, they are looking directly at the viewer....

Ah, this is beautiful and horrifying. As an artist, you kind of get a love/hate relationship with nightmares. Mine haven't been very vivid or disturbing recently and it's kind of bumming me out.

The horror isn't the bones of those large creatures... it's what killed them that's horrifying.

it was genuinely one of the scariest dreams I've had. The hallways kept getting more and more narrow and the path was shrinking so my feet kept getting closer to the water full of rotting horse.
