Turnout in Israel has been over 6% per hour so far, with 15 total hours of voting - could turnout reach 90% by the end? Oh, and in Brazil, voter turnout in the second round was 81%. In Hungary, 80%. In Serbia, 69%. Meanwhile, in the US, will turnout for the midterms even hit 45%? WTF, America?

A serial rapist was elected twice as President, a fact we don't reckon with nearly enough. Now one of two major political parties has been molded in his image, run for and by violent sexual abusers who hate women.

Please, please, please let Brazil and Serbia be the harbingers of what will happen in the U.S. in November. Go vote and bring a friend!

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

This is sad. I have always enjoyed political, editorial, and the "funnies" since I was a little kid. These artists give us a perspective on politics and life that you don't get from an article. And laughter is still the best medicine. Push back when papers and magazines cut the cartoonist.

THEY ARE NOT POWERLESS TO STOP HIM! Go back to Washington, stand on the steps of the Capitol and demand Johnson and Thune recall the House and Senate, and impeach him. THIS IS HOW IT IS SUPPOSED TO WORK! THERE IS LITERALLY AN INSTRUCTION MANUAL! (It's called the Constitution.)

Republican lawmakers are incensed about Trump's dismissal of Ukraine — and powerless to stop him. That frustration hit a new peak on Monday as they sought to address Trump’s decision to purchase Russian diesel, waive sanctions on Moscow, and potentially stop sharing intelligence with Ukraine.

The Times has boxed itself into a corner. It doesn't want to appear partisan, but it's impossible to report fully on what Trump is doing without pointing out that he is implementing an authoritarian takeover and that he lies constantly. So the Times shades the truth to appear nonpartisan.

Does it make sense to deport a man who overstayed a visa but otherwise has no criminal record when his deportation means shutting down a food pantry that serves meals to 7,000-8,000 needy people a month? Does choosing not to exercise discretion in his case make America greater?

one of the ways the media shows which side they prefer, is which politicians they quote uncharitably out-of-context and which they clean up for even when what they actually say and do is offensive (the Biden story ran on the front page less than a week before the 24 election)

This is what we need to be doing.
