Zohran didn't win by relying on standard turnout patterns. We had to fundamentally transform the Democratic electorate. I was part of a group of NYC-DSA members that applied lessons from our previous campaigns to design the “universe” of voters to talk to. Here's how we won 🧵

After more than 6,200 (!!) ballots were cast, SMC emerges with 153 of 437 delegate seats at NYC-DSA City Convention 2026! Thank you to EVERYONE who chipped in, reached out, and made this incredible effort possible.

Your last chance to vote for NYC-DSA convention delegates is *TONIGHT* at midnight! Our @socialistmajority.com slate will work to run AOC for president, elect another socialist slate in 2028, build with labor, and demystify DSA. If you're a NYC-DSA member, DM me for voting recommendations!

I joined @socialistmajority.com in 2025 alongside comrades who’ve built our chapter — from canvassers to union members to our elected leadership. I believe we can and must bring a majority of the working class into a democratic socialist vision: socialistmajority.com/nyc-dsa-convention-platform

The first time I was a delegate to NYC-DSA convention was 2022. It's the very heart of DSA's democracy. And this year, I’m voting for the Socialist Majority slate. Vote by Sunday night: vote.socialistmajority.com/nyc

This morning, I was proud to stand with @nyc-dot.bsky.social in Astoria to announce the expansion of the Red Light Camera Program to cover 600 intersections across our city. These cameras are an essential tool to change how drivers behave and to prevent red light running and fatal crashes.

Last week, New Yorkers raised over $1M for Palestinian refugees at the Gaza 5K. @jabaribrisport.bsky.social and I joined to let participants know about the Not On Our Dime! Act, our legislation to end tax-exempt status for organizations that fund Israeli war crimes. Free Palestine! 🇵🇸

I had the best time hanging out with 31st Ave Open Street and our neighbors last night! Our team and I reminded people to vote and gave out candy to Astoria’s cutest. 🥰 It was the perfect reminder of how badly we need family-friendly, car-free spaces in our neighborhood.

It was wonderful to join @nycwater.bsky.social this morning to deliver reusable water bottles to I.S. 235, after their Parent Coordinator reached out to our office for help. I’m so grateful to Principal Mosquea, her dedicated team, and students for showing us around.

ABOLISH ICE. END NYPD VIOLENCE. 17 New York State Socialists in Office and Democratic nominees respond to Thursday’s shooting of Oscar Belgal and call to abolish ICE, end NYPD assistance of ICE, and disband NYPD’s SRG.

Agents surrounded him and A 5-YEAR OLD CHILD in his car before firing multiple rounds. There is no reforming this barbarism. Abolish ICE is the bare fucking minimum.

My joint statement with @tiffanycaban.bsky.social calling on @nycparks.bsky.social to pause the RFP process for the proposed tennis bubble in Astoria Park:

It’s a beautiful day to stand with Amazon workers fighting for a union and the passage of the Delivery Protection Act! Amazon tries to squeeze everything from the workers who create Jeff Bezos’s obscene wealth. But they’re fighting back, and we’ve got their back! ✊🏽

In Hennepin County, which endured some of the most brutal ICE raids and the murder of Renee Good, Hispanic turnout is literally 5x what it was at this point in 2022, and >50% above 2024 at the same point.

This is pretty wild. While the total turnout in VA so far is 23% below where it was at the same point in '24 (expected, given that '24 was a presidential year), total Hispanic turnout is almost 50% ahead of the same point in '24.

We’re running…the Gaza 5K! @jabaribrisport.bsky.social, @illapa.nyc, Aber Kawas, and I are joining NYC-DSA's Running Club to run the UNRWA Gaza 5K in Prospect Park and support mental healthcare for children in Gaza. We’ll also have volunteers flyering for the Not On Our Dime! Act. Join us Sunday!

As the only New York elected from Ecuador who represents Latino immigrants living through a political crisis, I reflected on what it meant to return to my homeland which is suffering from a parallel crisis of democracy in @democraticleft.bsky.social: democraticleft.dsausa.org/2026/09/28/a...

Earlier this month, we co-hosted a Career Fair with @cwenyc.bsky.social and the Chocolate Factory Theater to offer constituents pathways to strong union and public sector jobs. Thank you to District Council 9, NYC DCAS, and all the organizations who participated!

If you live in New York state, please use this tool to send a letter to your representatives in support of trans youth who have had their gender affirming care cut off by hospital systems capitulating to the fascist Trump regime's threats to cut federal funding. actionnetwork.org/letters/tell...

In this moment, New York must set a positive example for the country, not contribute to democratic backsliding. Let’s reinstate the Fired Fourth and pass the Academic Freedom Protection Act!

I joined @psc-cuny.org this morning to rally outside the arbitration hearing of the Fired Fourth to demand their immediate reinstatement, oppose the New McCarthyism and its authoritarian chilling of speech, and fight for strong, statewide academic freedom protections!

FUND PEOPLE NOT BOMBS! I joined 400+ protesters, including @melatkirosco.bsky.social @chrisrabb.com @darializaforny.bsky.social @hamawyfornj.bsky.social, ahead of war criminal Netanyahu’s UN speech. We're calling for an end to genocide, an end to U.S. funding to Israel, and a Free Palestine.

@dianaforqueens.com showed up, too. Not to speak, just to cheer and support. Lotta respect for politicians who walk the walk like that.

May 2025: DoorDash spends $1 million to stop a democratic socialist from winning the mayoralty September 2026: DoorDash reaches a $131.5 million settlement with NYC's democratic socialist administration and admits to massive wage theft This is what's possible when you vote DSA

Collective grief as remembrance. Collective action as prayer. I had the honor of observing Yom Kippur with @jfrejnyc.bsky.social @jvp.bsky.social @rabbis4ceasefire.bsky.social at Yizkor, a public ritual to remember the dead, refuse our complicity, and recommit to each other and to free Palestine.

A new poll finds that 60% of voters believe that Roy Cooper would enact the policies of DSA if elected to the Senate. It also finds him leading his Republican opponent by 15 points. www.carolinajournal.com/polls/septem...

To get around our city, New Yorkers are buying devices that they've been led to believe are safe and legal. Often, they're neither. This bill from @sengonzalezny.bsky.social @dianaforqueens.com will end the sale of these deadly high-speed devices and fully ban their predatory marketing.

This morning, I joined street safety advocates, elected officials, and micromobility retailers to announce my new legislation with @sengonzalezny.bsky.social to ban the sale and false advertising of dangerous, illegal vehicles known as e-motos. Read more below 🧵

We were proud to stand with @sengonzalezny.bsky.social and @dianaforqueens.com this morning to introduce their new bill aimed at prohibiting the sale of illegal, dangerous high-speed e-moto devices, a big step toward safer streets across New York State! www.nysenate.gov/legislation/...

Literacy crisis: everyone is mad at Ed Sheeran, but if you actually read his statement he specifically said he’s not complicit

Join us at our Astoria office on Tuesday, Sep. 22 for mobile office hours with @aoc.bsky.social's staff! They can provide support with any issues involving federal agencies, including: ✔️ Immigration ✔️ Social Security ✔️ Veterans' benefits ✔️ And more!

“To get to any of us, you will have to go through all of us.” Proud to stand with @mayor.nyc.gov and @newyorkstateag.bsky.social as he announces New York City is suing the Trump administration over their illegal, cruel, and racist “public charge” rule targeting immigrant New Yorkers.

I am proud to represent the headquarters of the Fortune Society, founded in 1967 to support formerly incarcerated New Yorkers. Last week, I had the opportunity to sit down with their team, learn about the services they provide, and meet their founder David Rothenberg!

Thank you to the Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens for hosting a phenomenal back to school bash to get kids and parents/caregivers excited and ready for the school year! 🍎📚🎉✏️ I loved giving out backpacks, connecting our neighbors with resources, and being around bright kids ready to learn.
