Democrats get a gerrymander in Virginia approved by a referendum, and it falls. Republicans in other states manage to gut the Voting Rights Act to enact partisan gerrymanders with no signoff from voters, and they stand. The game really does feel rigged, doesn't it?
BREAKING: In a loss for Democrats, the Virginia Supreme Court ruled the congressional map voters approved last month to counter GOP gerrymanders cannot go into effect. The decision overturns the will of voters for technical reasons and gives Republicans a leg up for the 2026 midterms.

A Democratic president with simple majorities in Congress could enact proportional representation for the House—no amendments required. 50%+1 could end the filibuster, expand SCOTUS, expand the House, and enact PR by state. And add new states like D.C. to rebalance the Senate while they’re at it
"So in one stroke, PR could do a better job fighting racial vote dilution than Section 2 ever did, and do so without triggering equal protection objections." electionlawblog.org?p=155758

I understand Dems cannot unilaterally dissolve ICE now, but it's time to grind all normal operations to a halt until this madness is reigned in. We have a state funded police force murdering citizens doing good works, helping neighbors who fall in the street. What are we doing here @democrats.org ??

Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We’d chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now

I highly recommend watching this segment, not just because the CBS News execs and the White House didn’t want you to, but because these men were tortured and they deserved to have their voices heard.
!! Here’s a link to full video of the 60 Minutes segment that Bari Weiss killed last minute, via @jasonparis.bsky.social: is.gd/paU8Ko (It was uploaded to the Global TV app in Canada, seemingly by accident, and has now been taken down)

In before the house files an amendment that allows the senate provision to stay “as long as house members can sue three times annually for $333,333 in each instance, when the cheese is burned on the pizza they get from the congressional cafeteria”
The House has voted unanimously to repeal the provisions in the shutdown package which allow GOP Senators to sue the federal government and get as much as $1 million in damages - because the feds looked at their phone records in the Jan. 6 investigation.

at this point you have to acknowledge that there is no way that these guys don't try to mess with the 2026 midterms. there is absolutely no respect for the legitimacy of the opposition
Stephen Miller: "Eventually elections don’t carry the day because violence beats votes… When we see a muscular response from the federal government, it’s because we’re not going to let violence beat votes." Is he implying federal intervention determines political legitimacy, not ballots or courts?

I’m off today so while Texas is trying to undermine our democracy in broad daylight I thought I’d look at @cnn.com and @msnbc.com . MSNBC is talking about a NYT op Ed on climate. CNN is talking about the “USDA chasing wolves off farms with AC/DC” we’re doomed 🐺
