You know, if you *really* cared about the wellbeing of women in college, instead of carping about the statistically insignificant number of trans athletes in sports minding their own business, you’d be railing against these Cornell fraternity cretins who drugged and gang-raped a passed-out women:
Wait, a man who drove his wife to suicide by proving how popular he is with the ladies stole money from black kids for their health to fund an entourage to prove how important he is?
It's *almost* as if RFK, Jr. is a truly horrible, insecure person!
Tillamook cheese has been halal for many years. I think they switched from animal rennet around 2015/2016. This would be stupid outrage if it were recent but its doubly stupid because this is old news.
After FDR cleaned up the mess created by Calvin Coolidge and blamed on Herbert Hoover, Democrats spent decades reminding voters what the two parties had done.
In recent generations, that basic act of politicking has been deemed impolite by Democratic leaders. That needs to end.
New in PN: Are voters finally realizing that GOP presidents are disasters?
"The last 3 R presidents have handed their D successors an economic catastrophe, & the last 3 Ds have had to do their best to clean it up. Why don’t Ds ever say that? I think it would make a difference" — @mjtoma.bsky.social
Who was the real Jason Arday?
In the relentless culture war surrounding the professor’s death, the voices of those closest to him were lost. Here, his longstanding friend Sam Clark talks to Carole Cadwalladr about the kind, warm and remarkable man he remembers

"This is a fascist government. We are not yet a fascist country because we are still pushing back against that. But they have no intention of restoring democracy. And and we need to call that out" - @hcrichardson.bsky.social

NEW: Harmeet Dhillon swore in 100+ new Civil Rights Division lawyers as "civil rights warriors" for "ALL Americans" — then named exactly none of them.
So we did.

Centrist Democrats hate humanities scholarship just as much as Republicans do - the difference is that Democrats think humanities teaching is important in the elite private institutions they aspire to send their kids to, but not the actual laborers.
1/ 🧵 The most expensive Dem. Senate primary in US history just ended. El-Sayed won anyway, outspent 11 to 1. The billionaires who lost tonight aren’t done. They’re about to switch sides & fund Mike Rogers instead. Here’s the playbook they’re about to run. #DV1#ProudBlue#Voices4Victory#USDemocracy
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor must be breathing a sigh of relief. Finally, someone has bested his 2019 BBC interview with Emily Maitlis for "most incriminating self-own".
Rep. Max Miller: "When I was reported for child abuse of my daughter for a broken collarbone, my daughter was in my ex-wife's care 9 out of the last 11 days and she took her to the emergency room, which is a contempt violation from our shared parenting plan."
All I know about The Odyssey is that when my mother took her "maturitá" exit exams from her Liceo Classico in Naples, Italy, she needed to be prepared to translate ANY passage chosen by her examiners from Greek to Latin. From memory. In dactylic hexameter.
She was only 12 years old, but her invention helped improve the air quality in classrooms across Connecticut.
Her name is Eniola Shokunbi.

Unfortunately, preventing the public from knowing about the death of a Member of Congress is not a standalone federal crime in itself – but actions required to successfully conceal it (such as hiding the body, identity theft, or falsifying official documents) violate multiple federal and state laws.
Fine to disagree on tax policy, but not fine to work with GOP to significantly limit DC home rule. If DoorDash thinks DC will accept them intervening in our tax code, they don't deserve our business.
I've deleted my DoorDash account and encourage others to do the same.
In a statement, DoorDash tells me that the council passed the "arbitrary" new fee without holding any hearings.
"We have always supported home rule for D.C.," says the company. "But will continue to defend D.C.'s small businesses, local economy, and underserved residents."
A big reason for Democrats to promise prison time for Republicans in power and the use of the state to undermine the Republican Party as an organization is because our former allies need to believe that someday soon, America will cease to be like this.
Lawrence O’Donnell dismantles the myth of Graham Platner.
And warning signs were there all along. Information was publicly available, but ignored.
Maybe the U.S. Senate shouldn’t be someone’s first political job. No public office. No real vetting. Hype isn’t a substitute for scrutiny.

designed for educational wastage (high dropout or grade repetition/low achievement=low ROI) and a subsequent unskilled cheap labor market. The tech bros and billionaire's boys club behind many of these educational reforms have been saying for 20 plus years they believed
technology would eliminate jobs. So why would anyone now think their push of AI served anything other than deskilling and the discouragement of critical higher order thinking?

...has systematically undermined the deepening of critical thinking skills. The goal of high stakes testing has always been to eventually privatize urban public schooling (you are here now) and is a regime that privileges performance on tests over mastery. And it not only has led to the
privatization of urban public schooling (or the diversion of public funds to private schools). It has created a system that privatizes school failure and leaving. The uncritical adoption of AI needs to be understood as a continuation of a school system
PASTOR LORAN LIVINGSTON (@CentralChurchNC): “There has never been a Christian nation, and never will be. You don’t live in one now. A Christian nation wouldn’t have killed and displaced 20 million Native Americans, or thought owning slaves was pleasing to God.”
