Except how i do crafts is like im on the Great British Bakeoff and i still have 10 cakes to make. But thats my problem, not craftings problem. But uh yeah, im happier with crafts! I’m just deranged either way!

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

Crafting — which includes knitting, pottery and jewelry-making — attracts some people because of the mental health benefits of a soothing, repetitive motion. A large survey found a strong association between frequent knitting and feeling “calm and happy.”

Wildwood was absolutely an amazing transporting experience. I’m very picky + actually tbh don’t love a lot of laika’s films. This one, imho, every single aspect of it including the story is wonderful. some upsetting violence so ymmv about taking younger kids. DO NOT miss this film on the big screen.

he mentions how, even if AI can accomplish something (which he also mentions it doesn’t get it), it halts any progress of the craft in the future source: youtu.be/jiTS9LclmeM?...

"Looking back at past designs, there are some that were created merely by copying and pasting. Yet, such work rarely stands the test of time; it lacks the individual's particular design intention" 2/2 of legendary devs relating AI to following trends, which implies originality is the solution to AI

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, the acclaimed designer behind Super Mario and Zelda, has explained why he believes generative AI won’t make human creativity obsolete. "There will always be a role left for us to play." www.videogameschronicle.com/news/shigeru...

Omg yall I got the print to work without his arms falling off!! I’m not sure exactly how I did it but I’ll take it!! I understand about 10% of what I’m doing here but that’s better than where I started lol.

Jake (and his partner Maggie) run a thoughtful, ethical studio and are trying to make a hilarious series with proper artist treatment at its core. Toss a coin to your Witcher if you’re able!

When I get home I say hi to my kids and then I pick up my fat fluffy cat and I squish him and say “do your job” which he tolerates for a few minutes, which I appreciate.

Casting a net of questionable size here, if you’re an ex-BioWare dev (or know of one who may not see this) working on something cool you’d like featured in a roundup at Kotaku, drop it below. Store page links helpful, and let me know what your role was at BW. Projects big and small welcome! RTs plz!

in the narrative of this ad, kyle, our white plagiarist, isn't even depicted as worried about his own job performance; he steals labor because seeing someone who's not a white guy being praised "really got to him" if that doesn't sum up where we are with all of this, i don't know what does

KetAnthropic JoshAI@ketanjoshi.co

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

I enjoy(d) going to Joann’s this time of year and seeing what costume patterns were new and checking out the new Halloween and seasonal fabrics. Now the closest fabric store to me is a Walmart with only half an aisle of solid cotton and poly and a Michael’s with the same paltry thing. 🥺

I’m so tired of guys being assholes to me for no fucking reason. My dudes, no reason. Also, 90% of the time I’m painfully polite because I was raised in the south. And I just think one should be polite to other creatures. So you’re being mean to a sad polite overachieving mom-coded cat lady.

I love to hear ai companies losing insane amounts of moneys but also, god damn thats such a waste of money that couldve gone ANYWHERE else

Not every project has to look like Disney or Miyazaki. If you have to cut corners (animate on 3s or 4s, simplify the designs to near stick figures, use public domain music, voice all the characters yourself, etc) go ahead. Besides, anything’s better than ai.

indie animation's still in its merry melodies era but if it wants to survive, it is going to have to enter its hanna barbera era
