I used to read and review books. Now I just stare at the wall. I also hate leaf blowers.

My favorite part in later Stephen King novels is when the characters start talking about how they don't have much time, but then they spend a couple hundred pages telling stories and generally fiddle-fucking around while constantly noting how the clock is running out.

"If time is as short as you say, Jack...." "This is important," Jack says as he stands bullshitting in a bar 24 hours after someone else told him that they're running out of time.

Rereading Black House (via audio book), and there have been four mentions of how little time there is as they are eating dinner and talking around a camp fire.

Black Dynamite is set in the '70s. But it's stated in the movie that the area code for Topeka KS is 785. The 785 prefix wasn't added in Kansas until 1997. The area code for Topeka in the '70s would have been 913.

Checking out Pluto TV & YouTube TV this morning and have been barraged by vicious attack ads from Republicans running in Kansas. With the close polling, it'd be nice if the Democrats would spend some money to counter this. But that would mean actually fighting back so they won't.

It has begun, and the leaves haven't even really started falling yet around here.

It’s that time of year again, when we see who the REAL ALPHAS are … @theonion.com

This picture will always be iconic. RIP Margaret Hamilton who wrote the software that successfully guided NASA’s Apollo missions through the moon.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Sunday. 7:30 PM. Full dark. And one of my neighbors just ran a leafblower for 20 minutes. If I had access to nuclear weapons, I'd burn this planet to a crisp just to stop these assholes forever.

Part of why I don't like the AI-or-bust economy is the constant flopsweat of people on the news who say this HAS to work. Quit making everyone so anxious. Goddamn. If this is the next Google then why are you acting like this? I don't remember being told to buy an iPhone at gunpoint.

John Sandford's Prey series started 37 years ago, but despite being best-sellers that seem very adaptable, there have only been 2 bad TV movies made. As a long-time fan, this is solid casting that has my hopes up.🤞

Great. I gotta fly for work next week. At least if these scambots kill me, I won't have to worry about the on-going collapse of society.

The government’s plan to launch AI-assisted air traffic management comes as the FAA attempts a multi-billion-dollar effort to upgrade its aging equipment.

Yep.

The advice is “Think for yourself and do your own research”? And their plan to do this is “ask the chatbot to give you the probabilistically most average answer w a little random error thrown in”? Do I have that right?

Just saw this one - The highest grossing movie from the year you turn 13 is your missed career opportunity. - Mine would be Return of the Jedi. Now I'm gonna be sad all weekend.

1. Lot of candidates like Lonesome Dove & All Quiet on the Western Front plus several Stephen King novels but honestly, it's probably Winter Prey by John Sandford.
