I had to do the same for the BBC News Persian service a few years ago. Having to make a pixel perfect recreation meant I got to know the After Effects to Premiere template workflow very well.

Signs of stagnation in post production: 1. App monocultures mean lack of competitors driving innovation. ProTools for sound After Effects for compositing and motion graphics Premiere for editing 2. Post in 2025 wouldn’t be surprising to people from 2010.

Let me tell you a story (before the ship explodes):

What a pity. In 2017 was the first editing app that transcribed what you said and showed the words in sync with your footage on screen. Two years later CapCut included the same feature in China, in 2020 for US users.

This feature of Apple Motion has amazed my clients at the BBC for years. It has made me seem clever. For graphics that work in any aspect ratio (100:1 to 100:1 and beyond) I only need to include a maximum of 4 Display Aspect Ratio snapshots. #postsky
