2/3 We’re excited to bring Equal Earth functionality to #OpenSource webmaps. That’s why we applied to the NLnet Foundation for support in adding this functionality to MapLibre GL JS. Thanks to Pavel Janecka for his great effort with the development so far!

I still think every webpage should just have an interactive rotatable globe on it. Problem solved 😛

With Bamboo and Swoosh #elixirlang has some really cool libraries to send emails. But in the field of IMAP clients, there doesn't seem to be anything actively maintained. Or do I miss something? Searching hex.pm was not successful.

Uzbekistan just launched its first remote-sensing satellite, and it doesn't wait to reach the ground to think. Samarkand-2028's hyperspectral sensor (22 bands) processes data with an AI module onboard, in orbit. First time Uzbek engineers built AI for a satellite. #GeoAI #RemoteSensing

pixi 0.76 can now run standalone python scripts in isolated, on-demand environments. dependencies live inline via PEP 723, like uv supports, but pixi can layer on conda and system dependencies too. fun to build this with @prefix.dev folks. coming to a @marimo.io notebook near you SOON.

🔴🟢🟣🔵 Do you miss tagged unions (Algebraic data types) and pattern matching when you code in Julia? MLStyle.jl package of Julia introduces parameterized enums and pattern matching as we do in OCaml, Scala, and F#. #JuliaLang

Bad times in academia. Institutions everywhere weaker, forced to ignore experience & accomplishments; contributions worth less than credentials. Hearing from discussions in & outside Canadian geographers. Worrisome. Narrows possible solutions & innovation. 'Teams' now means technology, not people.

And if you have no care for #geography #GIS #GIScience or related fields, please ignore me because it may not be of interest. Well, I actually think the thoughts will be transferrable, but I am also aware that folks are "into their things" so I will not be offended in the least. We'll chat soon!

What a WILD day at #Goatmire! I finally unveiled the surprise that @lawik.bsky.social and I have been cooking up for the last few months - every attendee received a Nerves-powered e-ink name badge! I had a blast on stage presenting the project and the process of how to design hardware for Nerves
