The U.S. Department of the Interior manages and conserves 75% of federal lands in America. We swore an oath to the constitution to protect the Nation’s natural resources and cultural heritage. If this administration thinks they can undermine our mission in any way, they are sorely mistaken.

First they push 24% of rangers out the door, and tell us we can’t hire anyone to backfill those positions. Then, they tell us to fill those positions with seasonal (temporary) rangers—the positions in the NPS with the least protections.

🦬 I am not kidding when I saw Dems need to start working on RIF language *now* so that new Agency heads can issue RIFs to all lingering DOGEies on day 1 of the next administration. @naturalresources.bsky.social

AltSSA@altssa.altgov.info

They’re not gone they’ve just been embedded into the higher echelons of our agencies as SES level cronies that are permanent hires without having gone through any actual job training or vetting 😒😒😒

🦬 Oil bro said he was leaving in August because RIFs were supposed to be implemented by then; since they’re actually wildly illegal, he’s been hanging on by his fingertips hoping to see them through. Who knows how much longer we’re stuck with him??? 🤡🤡🤡

I thought that Hassen was supposed to have left already (It is hard to keep track of everything)

🦬 Speaking of DOGE, I like to keep track of all the original wreckers: One of whom is Amanda Scales, a Musk lackey who went back to xAI after failing out of DOGE after just six months. She’s unemployed now. 🤡

🦬 “DOGE” no longer exists— its employees have just burrowed into the agencies they were assigned to. Tyler Hassen. Stephanie Holmes. ⬆️ Just two of the people who need to be RIFed day one of the next administration (assuming they haven’t slunk away of their own accord before then).

Trump officials, including the head of OPM, are saying DOGE no longer exists. DOGE as influential entity seems to be done, but some DOGErs are in the National Design Studio and some burrowed into agencies e.g. Big Balls is at Social Security. bsky.app/profile/reut...

🦬 Two things Elon’s little X experiment (showing users’ locations) has made clear are: 1) There are so many more of us than there are of them. 2) What a world we live in…that making rage bait is the only way some people in developing countries are able to survive.

Difficult to overstate how profound a failure DOGE was. Spending in FY2025 was not only than in FY2024 – but higher than it was projected to be when Trump first took office.* The little bit of spending DOGE cut has already killed hundreds of thousands and will eventually lead to millions of deaths.

Carl Quintanilla@carlquintanilla.bsky.social

Bye bye, “DOGE”. It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management. @reuters.com www.reuters.com/world/us/dog...

🦬 The alacrity with which this administration kneecapped federal renewables is infuriating, but also insightful, because it shows that the next Democratic administration can and should do it to oil and gas.

🦬 “Interior largely rolled out its consolidation effort on paper only and without overhauling operations in any practical way.” …Pay us money so nothing changes. Can confirm this is true — when I lost my local IT Specialist I asked what the biggest change was and they replied, “My email address.”

🧵1/2 The Bureau level staff across DOI in HR, IT, Communications & Contracts who were “consolidated” to the Department level back in May(!) continue to be in a bizarre limbo and the Bureaus are being bullied into funding staff & “fees” while having their resources taken away.

🦬 I’m glad the House and Senate passed the Epstein Files Transparanecy Act, but a general reminder that this administration is anything *but* transparent. Remember when a court ordered DOI to submit its RIF plans, and they submitted 64 pages of redactions instead? I remember.
