I keep thinking about Andor lately. Incredibly poignant tv. It resonates & remains. It shows us real strength—of people. That is the beauty & the power of art itself—it is the knife edge & the flower. Art reflects & guides us. It cannot be made by a machine, & that is why it scares weak people.

In a world that wishes you to be small and quiet, the bravest thing you can do is take up space and use your voice. If you’re in the US, remember to vote early or in a week. It will take all of us, but we are enough.

The way the door slams shut when you offer silence instead of sweetness, quiet instead of care, a disappearing heart stretched out on a wire, a falling thing in a fallen space— this place is no one’s home, and everything is on fire, and the only thing left to do is choose: burn or run. #TinyPoem

This is racist and stupid beyond words. This man had a BRAIN WORM, for java’s sake. He has all the intelligence of a refried beach ball that got into a bar fight with some beef jerky. HUSH.

NEW: I spoke with current and former EA employees to understand how the latest layoff round played out and the realities of daily life at the U.S. publisher. The short version? EA is controlled by an executive class that "cannot fail, only be failed." Workers, then, will always pay the price.

FWIW, I think a lot of comments on the 770 post are either being purposefully not posted or they’re in purgatory. While comments are current closed, mine (written Oct 25) doesn’t seem to have materialized. I find the situation entirely disheartening, given the poor response to people’s objections.

You know, it’s been a strange stretch of time since August. And since then, I’ve just hit so many walls in so many areas of my life. Like sideshow bob stepping on a sea of rakes. Just people and things going 180 out of nowhere. It’s been weird, man.

I haven't been able to stop thinking about this absolute fuckery. I will NEVER outsource my creative output to gen AI. If you ask me to write you a poem, or I've said I'd write you a poem, you'll get a poem from/by me. Whether it appears in print or on social media (#TinyPoem), it'll be me.+

This is gross and disappointing. It’s also a betrayal of your colleagues and contemporary, as well as yourself. I cannot imagine blithely being so blatantly spineless—especially having status and clout like that.

Milton dictated his poetry to his daughters, once his sight failed. There's ZERO excuse for abdicating your own creative output to some soulless Xerox machine Frankenstein'd together with stolen work. If someone is in a secure position, they should stand up for their colleagues. Period.

Never apologize for needing or asking for help. Asking is vulnerable/hard, I know. But it’s brave too. And that’s the whole point of being a person in a world with other people—we are here to help each other. (I realize there’s a certain irony is me saying this, because I’m bad it myself. Shhh)

Rough start to the day (banger of a headache, which pissed me off), but it’s abated mostly. Chores done, finishing the last of the meal prep for the week. Soup and then some stuff for various assembly, as needed. XO

I’ve made so many important friendships through social media. And it has also made me a better person—because there are a ton of people smarter than me out here sharing wisdom.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Some days, I am so close to disappearing, heart like an in-held breath, here but gone, there but not— you know if you know, we’re each a candle flame, a hungry breeze, a haunting, a graveyard for everything we once knew and once let go. #TinyPoem

Ughhhhhhh

In case you needed another reason to not see the new Ali G movie, apparently there are scenes where he shows people AI-generated photos as part of a transphobic prank scene to parents in a school (one of which is presumably what the BBFC cut for indecency reasons).

It's weird to realize that, sometimes, who you are as a person is going to clash with who someone else is as a person. Instinct doesn't work in that situation, because it's like offering a pillow to break someone's fall, when they really want a parachute.

This feels like the pivot point in a horror movie where you start rooting for the monster to eat the humans. This is not okay.
