Did you know that in Canada, if a budget doesn’t pass the government doesn’t shut down? Federal workers aren’t furloughed. Funding for social services doesn’t dry up. Failure to pass a budget triggers an election. It puts the politicians jobs on the line. They get the budget passed.

Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

BREAKING: A court ordered the Department of Defense to stop censoring educational materials discussing race and gender in schools on military bases. Books removed from the schools must be returned to the shelves immediately.

Premium increases notices will soon arrive in the mailboxes of Americans all over the US. The average increase? 114%. For some, the numbers are even higher: A couple making $129,000 with two adult children at home in Savannah, GA, will pay $3,150 more per month for insurance.

Disgust is too weak of an adjective to use, yet I am feeling stymied. This is reprehensible and absolutely UN-AMERICAN. People need to educate themselves on the realities of the near, actual and attempted genocide this colonial nation of ours was built upon.
