HECK YEAH, fuck ‘em up!!

@mishacak3s.bsky.social hey!! I hope you had a good time at the show!

China’s first AI-generated theatrical film, ‘Sanxingdui: Future Past’, has bombed at their domestic box office, only making $121,000 USD against a budget of $1.5M USD. In contrast, the crudely animated ‘Niu Lai’ made nearly $10M USD against a budget of $200-500 USD.

I didn’t take a lot of photos at LBX, but @patrickballestart.bsky.social sketched me in his event roundup so that’s way better, right??

hey guys a lil announcement: super fun event next weekend, FOR FREE, via brooklyn public library! bring your kids-- i'll be teaching a magical creature design workshop & signing some books :) www.bklynlibrary.org/calendar/com...

THIS IS ALL TO SAY: if you find yourself not seeing as many hand crafted artisans at the con(s) you frequent, that doesn’t mean they don’t exist, it might mean they didn’t get in! Good cons want your feedback, if you want more hand made, tell them! :)

My least favourite part of slinging merch is when somebody is so upset by something being sold out, that they think we did it to personally ruin their day… Like they have no idea how hard it is to predict quantities!! For anything!! We’d rather sell out than have a lot leftover!

I’m obsessed with @jackieackilewis.bsky.social’s cryptid badge ribbons at LBX! 🤣

Solidarity with the student protestors and all their supporters in France, as is the case any time there's a populist movement in France since 2023 I feel obligated to share this video reviewing the best croissants in Paris during the pension reform protests youtu.be/wp84sRpM1Js?...

Halloween in Hanbok 17

I spent the day sketching from the sidelines of the Tompkins Square Dog Parade, so my day was the best one.

Last week above the city of Rhenen in The Netherlands. I had been wanting to photograph this church tower with these kinds of conditions for years, and I finally managed to do so. What a morning.

Baku and Yuna hit the pumpkin jackpot! 🎃 Our tapirs received a MASSIVE pumpkin today for some Zoo Boo fall fun! And they won’t be the only ones getting in on the action; animals throughout the zoo and aquariums will enjoy their own slice of pumpkin season during Zoo Boo this weekend. 📹 curator Erin

All I can say is read this comic. And Lucy's afterword: "These are fields where monotony walks hand in hand with craft. Some people throw their hands up and bemoan the death of such practices in the age of AI, but I believe we’re headed toward a resurgence in valuing the things machines cannot do."

Worked for a condo developer for 1.5 days. I was a web designer, and when I got there I realized they didn’t have login details or source files for any of their (flash-based) websites. Thankfully I got a different job offer on day two and I quit as soon as the contract was signed!

I played (not) solitaire for more hands than I would care to admit. “A multiplayer game where the multiplayer was about companionship, empathy, and comfort, instead of competition or even interaction.” [notsolitaire.com]

On July 26, 2025, I had to evacuate a plane that caught fire just before takeoff. You might have seen it on the news back then? that one flight at the Denver airport? It's been over a year since then, but better late than never...!
