It’s telling that the Israel Foreign Ministry is saying Brad Lander, a proud and vocal Jewish person, traveled to a “foreign country.” When Israel wants the moral high ground of saying it speaks for all the Jews, it is all of our homeland. When we ask it to be better, it’s a foreign country to us.

Joel S.@joelhs.bsky.social

Israel’s Foreign Ministry attacking Brad Lander - a self-described liberal Zionist - by name, simply for doing protective presence, should be the final sign that the Israeli government would gladly sacrifice every last Jew in Diaspora to dominate more Palestinians with impunity.

A year ago, you could perhaps explain this as cowardice. Fearing Farage was headed for 10 Downing St, they felt a need to suck up to him. But given this seems far less likely now, we just have to conclude that this is their politics.

Pretty extraordinary for the Jewish Chronicle to run an op ed & news story about Nigel Farage warning of antisemitism in the Greens without mentioning that he is the only serving major party leader to have been criticised by Jewish groups for using tropes linked to antisemitic conspiracy theories.

Several of our activists were just attacked by violent Israeli settlers with clubs, pepper spray and stones while doing protective presence work, along with the groups Rabbis for Human Rights and Bnei Abraham, in the village of Jannatah in the occupied West Bank.

Rosh HaShana, or the Jewish New Year, begins on Friday at sundown. It’s a deeply meaningful time and the start of a period when Jews are told to think deeply on their actions and to ask forgiveness not only from God but from other human beings for wrongdoing. (1/3)

And the timing. It's almost Rosh Hashana! and there's elections in Israel! and the occupation is only 59 years old! and I have a head ache! Why now of all times?

Allowing trade with illegal settlements is not a "neutral" position, it is a pro-settlement position. It means: settlements are legal and normal and should go on expanding.

Some people are calling to avoid sanctions on Israeli violations of international law because "it may trigger antisemitism". Would the same people demand to avoid prosecution of criminals of Jewish or other race/ethnicity, because that may trigger racism? I don't think so. That would be insane

Struggling to work out why Jenrick would single out these three Commonwealth countries rather than, say, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, whose citizens have exactly the same rights. It’s a head-scratcher.

I guess Count Binface is the establishment is no dumber than the other lines Reform have had to push about Farage's shitshow

Robert Shrimsley@robertshrimsley.bsky.social

Fascinating how rattled Farage allies are by Count Binface. I doubt he can really marshal a serious challenge - perhaps they do. Or maybe they just need to build him up into more than a guy with a bin on his head so this contest doesn't look, well, silly

Have made it down to the antisemitism rally in London to see whether Reform uses the opportunity to politicise the real problem of racism against Jews. It hasn’t started yet. Mostly we had 2 musicians belting out Israeli classics, as if this were the best expression of British Jewishness… /1

Yesterday, immediately after an Israeli settler was killed and a Palestinian driver wounded in a collision in the West Bank, settler groups issued calls for revenge across social media. For hours, some 14 Palestinian villages were under attack by dozens of settlers, backed by our government.

This is a calculated effort to ethnically cleanse area C - which is 60% of the West Bank. And it is moving ahead successfully, while European governments murmur their objections and talk about a two state solution.
