Battery fires are a structural issue. There’s functionally no public messaging on where to properly dispose of this stuff even in ideal conditions and certification is all over the place functionally, so it ends up hurting people who have to rely on this stuff to live. L

Holy SHIT. I am not an expert in immigration proceedings, but from what I do know, this seems pretty seismic.

Kyle Cheney@kyledcheney.bsky.social

A federal judge found that an immigration court bond hearing was so egregiously stacked against an ICE detainee that he may simply order the release of ICE detainees, rather than bond hearings, from now on. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

I do think it’s funny when the current pope is like “that’s not how this should work” and people are like “uh buddy that’s what the church has BEEN DOING” as if he doesn’t know that. as if that might not be why he’s saying it now

I told my editor that I had to go to South America to find treasure and rescue my kidnapped sister, and they were just like "how will this affect the delivery date", it's like none of the old publishing traditions are valued any more.

Everyone knows people don’t buy print magazines anymore. The LIFE revival aims to buck that trend by asking some very important questions: What if magazines cost $45 an issue? And what if they were funded by the Kushner family fortune? Would you buy a print magazine then?

She recently lost her father to cancer, & is dealing with all this alone. Please share widely & donate:

Professionals who work in publishing hate the AI tools being foisted on them, authors hate AI (including me, I'm quoted here along with @scalzi.com ), but other than that, it's all going great in publishing!

“Oh I don’t like old movies…” So you don’t like the most hungover Korean War vet in America tap dancing so fast that they have to invent a new camera? And his costar is a woman who is so good at smoking that she can chain smoke through entire takes without the cigarette appearing once in frame?
