Cuba si, Yanqui no!

Joshua "the Crypt" Keep(er)@jekeep.bsky.social

"Washington claims Cuba poses a national security threat to the United States." Why does media keep repeating this? The US only said this obvious, absurd lie, after smugly declaring the real reason: they want to conquer Cuba and exploit it again. There is no good reason to help the lie!

Throwing billions in public money behind a pipeline at a time of climate breakdown – while sweeping aside environmental protections, meaningful Indigenous consultation and workers’ right to strike – is absolutely not in the national interest.

Eye popping. Court just unsealed Summary Judgment motions in New York Times v OpenAI / Microsoft. Easy to see why the AI companies had so many redactions (pink). Their own people wrote the lede for NYT, the "largest theft of labor in human history"... "more and more substitutive..." /1

Okay, I have a few minutes, so unpacking this a bit more for the timeline: During my PhD, I worked with the Nunatsiavut Government - the Inuit of northern Labrador - to ask: could their southernmost community, Rigolet, use tidal energy (or other renewables) to reduce their reliance on diesel?

NEW: DHS's Inspector General releases a scathing report about the Everglades detention camp known as "Alligator Alcatraz." The OIG finds that the now-closed camp, violated multiple ICE standards. The OIG also confirms detainees were punished with placement in a metal cage in the Florida heat.🧵

Beef and circuses in ‘merica

Christopher Deutsch@drchrisdeutsch.bsky.social

All this is to say that beef remains an enduring metric of the US economy in ways no other for item can. Americans measure themselves and their well-being and the overall status of the US based on beef. Trump is merely the latest president to learn this.
