Lord forgive me for I have spawned more discourse
if you ask me for a referral out of the blue at a convention and i don't know you, you bet your ass that's going to be a fuck no, who the hell are you
The University of Indonesia economics department is publishing research on why furry conventions might be better than LinkedIn for professional networking
On the other hand, it is a *really* rough time for folks in tech, referrals (specifically warm ones) are great for cutting through that noise.
Folks on the other end have mentioned it's quite hard to get referrals in the community because people (understandably!) want to remain anonymous.
I'll point in the direction of @edwinatwork.bsky.social to provide real advice here, but my bottom line is that if you are a skeevy opportunist going to cons for the sole reason of getting referrals I see you no different than the scumbags who visited GHC for similar reasons

My guess is that it'll end up being a label (self declared, maybe also something you can report on? Not familiar with existing labels) with moderation action being primarily on the most egregious of misleading assets.
Curious to view the results though.
Now that they're announced I can chat a bit more RE: Meta Ray Ban Audio glasses, but really camera-less glasses in general
I think a *niche* application would be better self-handling for folks in fullsuit or even more cumbersome partials, without the baggage of a camera
That being said, it'll be a while before it's meaningfully useful. Ideally:
- Connectors to the most common applications (i.e telegram, discord, etc.) for communication
- None of the other stuff enabled by default
- Privacy awareness with hard gates on access, local processing etc.
I think wearables are a cool piece of tech! They're already useful for accessibility outside of fursuiting.
Having it tied to a company not so much, and esp tied to an AI product. Hoping more competition comes.
And admittedly, it's not like this was a *major* problem in the first place.
Beyond excited to be able to say that I'll be hosting a personal finance panel at @anthrosocal.org!!!
If you have any questions beforehand, feel free to send them over :)
Side note, but pls report bugs if you can/care to by spamming the Oculus/Meta button 5 times
The flow is not as intuitive as the other apps (I didn't know this myself until I started) but it's a good way to let folks know that the new menu sucks balls reliability-wise

Pls help! I want to find out who took this photo.
It was a great gift and I don't know who gave it to me. I was in the Anthrocon dealer's den. If you don't know please pass it around! I'd love to thank them โฅ๏ธ
My friends and I owe a lot to the musical work that the folks in Loprov's circle produce. More than happy to give back.
I threw in what I could at the moment, and I'm hoping that other folks who can will do the same. We're so close to the goal!
