Reading this review reminds me so much of how I tried connecting with my grandmother over games, and it's a reminder that video games are an art form that can connect people across generations.

Of course, being the nerd I am, I often tried to teach myself music from anime or video games I liked (on grandma's iPad game and on my keyboard through YouTube), but in particular: I also taught myself the song "Cara Mia, Addio" from Portal 2.

And one night, when my grandma couldn't sleep and she heard me playing in the middle of the night, I played "Cara Mia" for her on my keyboard and explained the meaning of the song - and though she'd never play Portal 2 or anything, she really liked the song and I associate it with her to this day.

My grandmother never understood video games or why I liked them so much, but toward the end of her life she started playing this one piano game on her iPad (which up to that point, she used almost exclusively to take and store family photos).

We also had this old toy keyboard in the house that no one had really touched, so one day, armed with that keyboard and my first smart phone, I'd teach myself piano by watching Synthesia videos on YouTube - and because grandma was playing a piano game on her iPad, we'd play together at night.

I love a good, brewing conversation on AI ethics and where your data goes... Character.AI looks like the first app to go down after losing an insane amount of money (ChatGPT is speculated to do the same next year). But just because the company goes doesn't mean your data disappears with it.

Radar Digital@radardigital.bsky.social

A chatbot company can go bankrupt. The secrets people shared with it don't just disappear. Now 40 US attorneys general want safeguards for Character.AI users' private chats before any potential sale. No data sale has been announced.

I suddenly need to see more of Cortana and Master Chief in this context because the idea of "Halo Jr." is adorable to me and I suddenly need more.

If your parenting solutions are "put some technology in my kid's hands" for literally everything, then maybe consider if you actually want or wanted kids in the first place...

Jess Calarco@jessicacalarco.com

It's telling that men would rather try to invent tech to replace humans' role in caregiving than step up as equal partners in parenting. Telling, that is, in that it shows how financial capitalism and patriarchy work together to dissuade men from doing "unprofitable" labor, like the work of care.

I'm at that point of singing one particular song where listening back to it feels like words aren't really registering and I've been at it so long that even hunger doesn't effect me now... Depression mixed with sudden inspiration and the realization of "I'm good at the thing?!" packs a punch.

Note: I'm reliant on Google Translate to speak languages other than English, and when it comes to Japanese, I can only read romaji. So feedback is appreciated! AuthorSSDは英語以外の言語を話す際にGoogle翻訳に頼っており、日本語はローマ字でしか読めません。もし間違いがありましたら、AuthorSSDまでお知らせください! ^^ See you again, have a nice day!

So out of sheer curiosity, I went to the website to see if tickets at any of the currently listed theaters were an option and so far: everything except for wheelchair and wheelchair companion seating is sold out. So reaching out to local theaters to show the film or set up more show times is a must.

GLITCH@glitchprod.com

Get tickets at DigitalCircus.movie - we are so incredibly grateful for this opportunity ❤️ if your region isn't listed, PLEASE respectfully reach out to your local theatres to ask them to bring Digital Circus: The Last Act to your area! We want as many people to enjoy this experience as possible!

This is yet another hit to the current AI industry standard. They're still losing money, are shutting down Sora, and there's still speculation they could be dead next year... It's interesting stuff, for sure.

If you’ve ever complained about shipping prices, please take that energy and direct it to your elected representatives. Tell them to fight for more funding of the postal service! If we lose the USPS it’s absolutely inevitable that shipping rates will increase with all carriers. 😤

The package of censorship and surveillance bills brought up in todays markup has been advanced Continue to contact your representatives and demand this legislation be opposed. Tell your family and friends, explain how these bills are not what they appear, and ask them to join us in opposition!

I am once again here to say, those of us that care about AI ethics are basically the Cassandras of the industry. LITERALLY NO ONE LISTENS TO US WHEN WE EXPLAIN WHAT CAN AND LIKELY WILL GO WRONG. Has Grok not behaved badly enough already when it WASN'T in charge of government secrets?!

Hey. Tell people when they do good job. When you like the stuff they make. When you like the characters they’ve created. The stories they’ve told. Nobody hears it as often as you think bc everyone thinks everyone hears it all the time. Trust. They don’t. Tell. Them.

Honestly I wish more kids like the kid in the brown hoodie were around to stand up for their fellow students. Kids like that one? Don't punish them, they've got heart. The know what's right, they probably know the struggle and that's why they punch evil in the face on sight.

"the vast majority of you won't have to worry about this" I don't even fucking care if it turns out it's only three people that have to worry about this, it shouldn't be implemented, period. Keep cancelling your Nitro, they're clearly noticing

Discord is already starting to walk things back a little, so people should keep doing what they're doing (cancel Nitro, leave feedback/criticism, direct contact through support tickets/phone/email/etc)

please give us more personal data please please please please c’mon you’re being so mean dude. we only got breached like three times. we’re NOT going to sell it man please please please plus its for like safety? so you’re the one who looks stupid right now come on pleaaaaaase just one data point bro

Instead of paying actual humans to moderate your platform fairly you resort to begging us for our IDs and sensitive government information that you'll no doubt end up losing in a data leak or hacking incident. Protecting kids shouldn't come at the cost of making every adult prone to identity theft!
