It’s really a labeling issue, most people are not “competitive”, they just want to play with friends, crush weaker competition and not be challenged, the actual work and difficulty of actually being competitive scares most people before they actually attempt it.

There is such a disdain for low level players from some of you I swear you would rather people quit out of frustration and a feeling of hopelessness than get better if they get to do so in a way that is fun and relatively painless

If you're a comp splat player of any level who firmly believes that competitive play and soloq demand significantly different skillsets, especially if you think metrics such as x power have no bearing on competitive skill level/divisions, I am genuinely curious to hear why you think that.

part of me feels like the "win now, improve later" mentality that a lot of the scene has is why mid-level and above (maybe excluding the top 0.01%) feels terrible to play in maybe this applies to low-level too, but the effects really start to amplify once the player population decreases

Thinking of a few changes: 1) Make "custom url" mandatory and only allow changing it rarely. Show history of the custom url. To identify each account. 2) Make it forbidden to use in-game alt names in SQ/tournaments. 🧵 for reasoning but feel free to give your opinion here or Discord #sendouink

Felt like I played really really well tonight but also it just wasn't enough. Definitely was a bit demoralizing to know that I'm so close to getting there, but I'm just not there yet.

sendou.ink update - October 9th 2026 Headline is the new multi-step tournament form that features a visual bracket builder. We also have new formats with SE/DE groups. SE/DE can also now skip rounds (useful for qualifiers). Also other misc tweaks and fixes, mostly related to Scanner. #sendouink

btw i dont think counterpicked weapon bans work well in splatoon (as a standard; for gimmick tourney its fine) because some weaps have way more overlap than others. u ban 52 gal & the shooter player just plays literally anything else. u ban explo or tent or whatever & someone goes down 3 divs
