Absolutely lost my shit at this co-op mode for Hearts of Iron, which you play as the Army, Navy, Emperor, and Government. All have their own win conditions aside the Government, which lost the game automatically in 1925. docs.google.com/document/d/1...

VIX Futures are flat/slightly down right now. Very interesting that all this Greenland/sanctions news is not moving volatility pricing up at all
Not saying this means it’s a nothing-burger but the most liquid 24/7 market (Bitcoin) isn’t moving at all on these UK press headlines. I find that somewhat surprising!

A DoorDash spokesperson confirmed the same to me. I followed up by asking is "inflation has been tamed" not something one should conclude from this report? The spokesperson said: "The White House can use the language that they are using on that. I’m not going to speculate on that."
🔥 The White House released an article on Monday citing a DoorDash report as confirmation that "inflation has been tamed." I asked a DoorDash spokesperson today if the company had concluded from its report that inflation had been tamed. DoorDash spokesperson told me, "We did not write that."

If you're concerned, please blow in a paper bag for a sec, drink some water, and then read this thread. If you're *still* concerned, I'm not sure what to tell you.
Long thread summary: TikTok guy is full of it, SRF uptake has nothing to do with banks' credit performance (which is *improving* rn), SRF uptake is a sign of the system working as designed, and it's all because we made banks more stable by forcing them to manage liquidity more responsibly. FIN

i know a lot of people have valid concerns about the mods here but you simply cannot be mad that they don't allow death threats lol

It sounds like the tech CEOs have more sway here than the immigration hardliners (Miller/Vance). Or maybe he's just a sucker for something he can charge a price for ($100k H1B fee)
TRUMP: You have to bring in talent INGRAHAM: Well, we have plenty of talented people in America TRUMP: No you don't. No. INGRAHAM: We don't have talented people here?

I was curious about whether this might end up as an implied directive to governors to use their own pardon power on the state-level convictions, but it looks like it can't/won't happen... - AZ has a D governor (Hobbs) - GA has a R governor, but the governor doesn't have pardon power
2024 analysis is complicated, but I agree looking forward Autocracy doesn't need broad support to survive if it can de-mobilize and de-motivate opposition. In 2026 + 2028 voters need to have faith that dems will fight for them. "Both parties suck" and cynicism will be easier for the GOP to exploit
I’m already seeing people insist that even with this capitulation the Democrats will still sweep 2026 because Trump is that bad. It was precisely that attitude that gave us 2024.

This is not a deal — it's an empty promise. Trump and his Republican Congress are making healthcare more expensive for the middle class and ending it for working families. Time for Democrats to stand tall for affordable healthcare. www.politico.com/news/2025/11...
"This legislation will protect federal workers from baseless firings" No?? IMO they're even more vulnerable 1) Trump/Vought are already flouting the law on RIFs 2) Now the GOP will see RIFs as bargaining chip, not as a political liability Terminal lack of self-preservation by some of these dems
“Um well there aren’t even any Senate Dem Press releases saying they support the deal” Sen Tim Kaine: Hold my beer

Replace the ATCs who stopped getting paid last week with ATCs who will stop getting paid next week, lol
Sean Duffy: "The secretary of war texted me yesterday and said, 'I might have some air traffic controllers. If you could use them, I'm gonna offer them to you.' I don't know that I can, Jake, because they're not certified in the airspaces that we need them. But if I can, I'm going to use them."

Republicans seem to think that the norms created by the social contract are just sort of a immutable laws of nature and that therefore, tearing up the social contract will have no negative consequences for them, and I am, very much not looking forward to that thesis being tested
I think we're genuinely flirting with a societal rupture and I'm not sure I want to experience that
My prior here is the admin needs to mitigate any tech stock downturn out of political necessity (asset-based economy ftw). So they're getting the worst of both worlds... 1. Increased the likelihood of apid selloff due to higher (perceived) risk 2. Clear flip-flopping when the eventual bailout comes
Trump administration officials are dismissing the idea of a financial backstop for AI companies, US officials said, after comments from a top OpenAI executive raised questions about the prospects for a federal bailout
Interesting poll from YouGov: more impacted by shutdown = more blame tilted GOP I can see this creating havoc in the GOP between "materially affected by Trump's policies" vs. "politics is just a game", esp. since power holders are more likely to be the latter today.yougov.com/politics/art...

I think we're fortunate that DOT is at least reducing traffic and not playing hardball with the controllers ala Reagan in 1981. Ground stops are annoying but "temporarily filled with .... some non-rated personnel" is frightening en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profess...
