It's been a good night. That's all the UBs I can get on Ultra Sun, going to have to do DAs in Shield for the Moon exclusives. #shinyhunt #pokemon

i know i’m old but as a kid growing up in the ‘90s, we usually got somewhere between 12 and 28 surprises inside a typical box of caylus vs. foltyn

Saw this on the shelf at Target and it’s like a portal to an utterly unknowable parallel world. As if i was peering into the dimension from Stalker

As someone who makes most of his decisions based out of spite from being a "No Simpsons" kid growing up, I struggle with this. One of those YouTubers is going to become a generation-defining touchstone and my kid's just going to have to smile and nod as his college buddies quote classic brainrot.

What a bizarre mish-mash of comic and movie buildings. I kind of love it.

It is no longer called pancake syrup. It is now Pancake Ketchup, because I needed to convince my toddler that he would like liquid sugar.

Incredible game. I am begging you all to try this out if you haven't already

The others I stand by. Fusion was my first Metroid and I still think it's the most beginner-friendly of the series. Warioware may be the most perfect game I've ever played. Sequels are all wonderful, but they really nailed it on the first one.

SMTIV was the first non-Pokemon JRPG I've had the patience to finish. And still the only one. I've tried FF, I've tried DQ, I've tried Earthbound. Not the genre for me, overall.

Kinda fluctuated between "favorite games" and "most formative games" there, I guess. Pokémon Red or Gold probably deserve the spot over White, but Gen V is really what made me fall in love with the series again as an adult. The monster designs are all perfect.

Super Mario Bros 2 probably deserves the spot over Hades or Aria of Sorrow if we're going strictly by "formative." I learned to read off that game manual. Truly rewired my brain.

Took a crack at Gen 2 shiny breeding, just to say I did. If you don't mind the constant stress of assuming you did something wrong and you're totally wasting your time, it's a neat little hunt. I just wish I had more Gen 1-2 shinies I still need to catch. I think it's just Kanto Rattata now.

This method rules. Bring back the shiny gene. Passing the gene down across several generations reminded me a little of flower breeding in Animal Crossing. So much more satisfying than just getting a foreign Ditto.

Look, I'm not even particularly nostalgic for OoT, but I had a full on "Critic from Ratatouille" flashback moment when they showed Kokiri Forest. I think the jump button is silly and I don't want voice acting in my Nintendo games but I'm all in on the remake now.

All Zelda has been canceled, this is now a Metroid Anniversary Direct

The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct kicks off in less than an hour! What are your last minute predictions? buff.ly/AmHpZGX

The new Spider-man may be the first MCU film I miss in theaters. This is largely due to how hard it is to find time/a sitter, but it doesn't help that the last Spider-Man was the worst thing the MCU ever produced. I hear this one's good! But god I hated the last one.

Yeah, me neither

Every piece of nostalgic PS1 merchandise is a reminder that their biggest games were all 3rd party.

Obviously Sony's had plenty of success focusing on their hardware and a solid 3rd-party library over making a Mario/Sonic/Halo-level 1st-party hit, but it does make PS1 nostalgia ring hollow to me. Like being nostalgic for a specific DVD player because you saw your favorite movies on it.

A few years back our GameXChange had a copy of RC Pro-Am II for like $200 and man, I was tempted. I was going for a complete physical Rareware collection at the time.

DK Challenge Komplete! Note how I finished the retro challenges the night the event dropped and held off on the Bananza ones until the last minute. Honestly, the hardest part was re-learning the controls after not playing for a year, but that slug boss can go fuck himself. #DKChallenge

I've come to view owning/maintaining/driving a car to be a sort of personal hell, but we recently acquired a smallish SUV, and I'm a little embarrassed to admit how much of that feeling has disappeared now that my head no longer hits the ceiling while I'm driving.

Would I rather have a robust and reliable bus system in my city? Obviously. But being able to buckle my son into his car seat without messing up my back bending over is pretty nice too.

The one interesting thing the MCU has over the comics is the inevitability that the actors will age out/get bored of their roles and force the story to progress with new characters. And all the current buzz around the movies is "when are they going to recast Iron Man?"

pixelatedboat aka “mr bluesky”@pixelatedboat.bsky.social

The same as my take on all superhero comics: the comics would be better if time had progressed forward and the original characters were all in their 60s now

Honestly, sounds kind of fun? I somehow trust Kevin Smith more than most to spin something entertaining out of this obvious fanservice cash-in.
