I'd have been a lot more impressed if it said her daughter was ambitious, calculating, can't be bothered with frivolous pets, and has a mother so out of touch she thought this would be a great story.

cool, cool

I always root for the kicker ... unless it's Butker. Mr MAGA missing two tonight is just Chief's Kiss

How much are you reserving to pay for the intellectual labor arbitrage and blatant IP theft?

Anthropic {bot}@anthropicai.xmirror.bot

We’re committing a portion of Anthropic’s shares to the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a new wholly owned entity dedicated entirely to the public benefit.

I would also like few shares to compensate for having to be aware of your machine generated nonsense on SDLC "innovations"

Using Claude to help write some lecture notes on databases, and it basically quoted my own book back to me (without me asking for it). I do know it's in the training data because I got letters about the Anthropic copyright settlement… still, feels pretty weird

The irony of short-circuiting your thinking process (writing) while describing another process where you are failing to think. These are not serious people.

When Anthropic's software—designed, programmed, prompted, and activated by humans working for Anthropic—does stuff the humans failed to predict, stop saying the software has "gone rogue.” The software does not have agency. Only the humans do.

Donating to Omarchy and parroting "super intelligence" would be great shibboleths of poor character, but not a single person participating in them is surprising anyone.

I am all for this. Now everyone can tell who is a sycophantic moron even after they scrub the orange tanner off their nose. Super intelligent of them.

Trump: "We're gonna be signing a document today renaming artificial intelligence, because it's not artificial. We're gonna be naming it Super Intelligence. Officially renaming it."

And "those people" are OpenAI and Anthropic employees & executives. Everyone involved in this should be on trial right now. Gross incompetence.

"Artificial intelligence" is now "super intelligence", per the orange clown? Why not "American Intelligence" or "Intelligence of America"? Rip all the right-signaling startups with Anguilla top level domain names. I guess they all have to move to Slovenia now (.si).

A computer scientist discovering what LLMs often get used for.

Frontier labs and Palantir held to account when?

AI hallucinated a report that a Chinese ship was transporting nuclear material to Iran and the US military scrambled and nearly boarded it. We were apparently minutes away from a major war because of an AI hallucination. www.cnn.com/2026/09/18/p...

Eye popping. Court just unsealed Summary Judgment motions in New York Times v OpenAI / Microsoft. Easy to see why the AI companies had so many redactions (pink). Their own people wrote the lede for NYT, the "largest theft of labor in human history"... "more and more substitutive..." /1

<Scooby-doo mask reveal meme> The frontier LLM business model is entirely human labor arbitrage, from stealing and renting back the entirety of human knowledge to farms of underpaid human classifiers.

404 Media@404media.co

And by the way, from our scoop, we also discovered that Anthropic is also using human reviewers to read conversations.

Anthropic and OpenAI think open weight LLMs are good enough to eat their margins, ergo begging for gubmint regs to save their failing business from competition. The companies launching irresponsible cyber attacks and stealing work from literally all humanity didn't suddenly grow a conscience.

Okay I blagged it. Imagine if this actually fucking happened‽

jacob.goldAn open letter to Dario: if you mean it, open the weightsDear Dario, You published We Must Pace the Frontier today, which committed Anthropic to embedded third-party evaluators and asked governments to require every other frontier company to match. Sam Altm...
Jake Gold@jacob.gold

There's no slowing down frontier models by regulation that wouldn't lead to regulatory capture. But we could simply force all AI model companies to release their model weights openly. It's the world's data after all and nothing would slow their funding/progress more effectively and universally.

Imagine thinking a large matrix of floating point numbers can "want" anything.

Oh ok. It really will be quite straightforward.

The agents all going rogue and escaping their sandboxes and whatnot are doing so because OpenAI and Anthropic are just leaving the computer under the supervision of the Homer Simpson drinking bird, but you can just not do that.

Oh great. My MAGA relatives are gonna convert to AI maximalism overnight now.

Trump defends data centers: “The only reason that communities throughout the U.S.A. should not want Data Centers is if they want to end up being backwards and poor. If they want to be successful and rich, with far lower taxes and jobs all over the place, let Data Reign.”

People will say it's "Tech Week" here in NYC. Well, any event run by Andreessen Horowitz is illegitimate, because the NYC tech community has values, and one of its most fundamental is its humanity. They have forfeited theirs.

Yubikey for this, TouchID for that. All Day Long. The frequency at which my work laptop demands physical touch is bordering on an HR violation. If Demis is right and we are in the "foothills of the singularity" I'm reporting this to see who wins: HR or IT. 🍿

Same lazy energy from software "engineers" that want AI to write all their code, write all their tests, do all their code reviews, claim it's all good because the AI told them so, and get paid for their "taste."

Dr. Holly Walters@manigarm.bsky.social

I'm sorry, what? In writing my first monograph, I spent six weeks trying to track down a citation in TWO languages I didn't know. And good thing too, because the citation was wrong. That's scholarship. That's research. You know, the thing we're trained to do?!?

I mean, this is cool and all but nobody and especially not Jarred is ever going to read that PR, so ...

IBM/Dehomag automated the final solution. Each concentration camp victim had a punch card with their identity, name, skills, ancestry and demographics. Leased Dehomag machines ingested stacks of cards for aggregate counts on various dimensions. Technology made the process brutally efficient.

I think there is a place in hell for Karp and Palantir investors next to Eichmann. And I'm ashamed to say how many family evenings I lost in 2018-2020 because my employer had them as a customer. Ex-customer thankfully. They are awful customers too. Doing work for them is moral thin ice.

I had to re-watch the #clojure documentary and freeze frame to be sure, but Rich Hickey's hammock-time companion is a Boox Go 10.3 I'd recognize that distinctive metal strip on the back anywhere, and the left border is too narrow to be a Note Max. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y24v...
