Great turnout for Bring Your Own Chair at Pike Place today 🪑 Thanks to everyone who showed up, grabbed lunch, and helped demonstrate what a more people-first Pike Place can look like. More space for people. More reasons to stay. Let’s keep it going.
Pike Place pilot: foot traffic +5.6%, sales +6.5%. People-first streets work. 🪑 Bring Your Own Chair 🗓️ Wed, 4/29 🕛 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM 📍 East side of Pike Place Grab lunch, take a seat, show demand for year-round seating. More info about BYOC @ Pike Place: www.streetsalliance.org/get-involved...

🧵 New preprint led by @bingbrunton.bsky.social, @elliottabe.bsky.social, @lawrencehu.bsky.social We gave a worm brain control of a fly body and it walked What did we learn? Nothing, other than deep reinforcement learning is effective We call it the digital sphinx www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

I tracked every keyword in 22 years of Cosyne abstracts to map how computational neuroscience evolved — from Bayesian brains to neural manifolds to LLMs — and where it's heading next.

When a fly lands on your arm, how does your nervous system decide where to swat? By reconstructing tactile axons in a Drosophila connectome, we found a leg somatotopic map and downstream circuits that sample the map to initiate targeted grooming Led by Leila Elabbady, PhD doi.org/10.64898/202...

Great to see the MICrONS data out, congratulations to the huge team who created this amazing data! If you have a scientific question about the data, there are resources available (including annotation and proofreading work) to help you! Submit a request to VORTEX: www.microns-explorer.org/vortex
How does the brain work? Scientists are closer to the answer with the largest wiring diagram and functional map of a mammalian brain to date. 🧵 🧠📈

The mind is like a symphony - it works better when the activity is synchronized. Growing evidence suggests that inhibitory neurons work together to "gain control." Learn more in this excellent review by Katie Moisse in @thetransmitter.bsky.social. 🔗 www.thetransmitter.org/connectome/i...

This is a map of Seattle's streetcar network in 1941. Same hills.
Kettle says that Seattle is hilly, and not some "standard city in Florida" as a reason not to build a streetcar? He also says that the reason we don't have bus service on First Avenue is because of the unbuilt streetcar (this is false).
You are up to date.
