Coyote vs Acme ended up being one of the funniest films I've seen all year - but also quite an emotional one as well? Wasn't expecting that

Rewatching Twin Peaks at the moment, and I'm amazed (again) that it is somehow both a slightly naff melodramatic soap opera (by design) AND a contemplation of supernatural forces trying to encroach and corrupt small town innocence - and that this combination actually works

I have finally finished writing my book on Storytelling, which explores why stories have such a hold over us, and shows how to create impactful stories for your audiences. Been a really fun process researching and writjng. Now comes the hard part - getting it published!

www.ign.com/articles/met... MGS4 is like a blank spot in my memory. I can vividly remember MGS, Sons of Partiots, Snake Eater, even MGS5. But despite MSG4 being the grand finale, I just can't remember anything beyond the fact it brought back every available character and the hours long cut scenes

ign.comMetal Gear Solid 4: The Flawed Masterpiece Kojima Didn't Want to MakeWith Metal Gear Solid 4 finally arriving on modern consoles thanks to Master Collection Vol. 2, we take a look back at the game's legacy. Was it really just a big cutscene, or is it Kojima's masterpie...

Rewatching Jurassic Park. Really is pure cinema. While the sequels focused on spectacle (and laser targeted raptors for some reason) Jurassic Park is a film about why Jurassic Park is a bad idea. Its about moving forwards not looking backwards. 'So have I' is one of my favourite lines in all film

Somewhere there’s a timeline where there was a Scotland vs. England match and Greggs as a company just vanished in a puff of logic

As much as I think Burnham will be a good Prime Minister, I do think its not a great look that we keep voting in moderates (Cameron, May, Starmer - Boris was the exception, but there wasn't a moderate option) that then get removed and replaced by radicals that move their party to the right or left

In these desperate times, we need moments that can bring us together as a nation, which is why I pay tribute to every American selflessly offering us their opinion on Belfast.

I was lucky enough to travel to and report from Myanmar in 2015 when the country was trying to open up, and even that was a shakey experience (though they best deployment i did)

Backrooms and Obsession: How two low-budget horror films caused a Hollywood earthquake www.bbc.com/culture/arti... Genuinely exciting to see new filmmakers with new ideas finding such success over old and stale franchises. Seems like we might start seeing some great new stories emerging

bbc.comBackrooms and Obsession: How two low-budget horror films caused a Hollywood earthquakeThe last few weeks have been an extraordinary time for cinema – with a pair of indie horrors by Gen Z directors making massive profits, while traditional blockbusters have flopped.

My reading of the messages of Backrooms was 'Don't live in your own memories' which leads to Gen Z shouting 'Stop making us live in 40 year olds nostalgia!' - highlighted by coming out in the same month as another Star Wars film, Scary Movie 6 and a He-Man film (and blowing them all out the water)

Interesting trend in films recently around blurring the lines between Protagonist and Antagonist. In both 'Send Help' and 'Obsession', the conventional Antagonist role is thrust upon them unwillingly, whereas the 'Protagonist' has done something bad that has unleashed elemental forces on them

Question - Take any recurring character or series that's gone past their initial character or narrative arcs, such as Doctor Who, Batman, Spiderman or Star Wars, the MCU - what would you do for an emotional, satisfying and conclusive ending?

So for example - Doctor Who reflects on the end of his long journey having defeated his greatest enemy and restarting the Time Lords as a race

The whole region was like a Jenga tower that was teetering on collapse, which each player cautiously pulling pieces and planning their moves. Then a demented bull backs over it by accident and the whole thing collapses and now we have utter chaos...for no good reason

You are up to date.
