Got broken traces in your Node.js APM tool? This usually means async context is broken. Most often this is because of "userland queueing" a.k.a. callbacks being stored and then run at some later time. My tool async-break-finder can help you track down the problem! npm.im/async-break-...

My colleagues Pablo and Kemal are campaigning for a seat on the OTel GC. Pablo is a prolific contributor and GC veteran who needs no introduction. Kemal has done fantastic work on Compile-Time Instrumentation for Go. But please check out all the candidates and vote! github.com/open-telemet...

What does the React SSR world look like these days? Are we still talking about 7-8 rps? Or have we evolved and done something much more efficient?

Imagine herodevs, but the backport security releases are public, and only existing if a certain patreon-esque funding level is met. Next level up? One more old release line supported. It's not quite donationware because there's a tangible thing given enough money involved.

The whole "only browsers are okay and everything else is hosed" is a pretty friggin bad state of affairs, tbh. We ought to do better as an industry.

After the firefighting is done (and a nap) we'll need to have a long, serious conversation about the state of non-browser non-platform X.509 verifiers. The Linux status quo is "a pile of PEM files behind a dumpster" and that's not an acceptable excuse for a root store in 2026.

The biggest takeaway I get from the Anthropic version control thing is that megarepos are still crap.

This is also one reason why working remote is not for everyone.

I have sampled the @nodeconf.eu speaker gift (a bag of coffee) and I can confirm that it's pretty tasty! Thanks @nodeland.dev et al! (For the curious: I did 383ml to 23g, steeped for 2 min in a Clever Dripper, stir, another 30s, then release.)

Can we all collectively agree to stop Fraunces? As in the font. I know your favourite AI tool wants to use it, but please consider how awful the following letters look: f s g n m

Can you find me in this pic?

This is your reminder not to let those joyless fucks convince you that human experience, knowledge, intellect, and art can be reduced to a pre-chewed paste of stolen labor.

My step brother had a cardiac arrest last week and now suffers brain damage. His recovery will not be short, and might not ever be complete. If anyone has a few bucks to spare to help pay his bills, that would be fantastic and much appreciated. Goal is almost hit! gofund.me/2840bca26

I'll be in AMS schengen departure area tomorrow for about 3 hours. What should I fill the time with? I know the non-schengen KLM lounge is better.

Folks. This referendum is divisive nonsense but you MUST vote. Brexit happened because "normal" people thought It couldn't happen so didn't bother.

I keep meeting smart informed Albertans who tell me they do not intend to vote, because they don’t want to legitimize the process, or because they know the premier is not bound by the results. But what if making us give up on voting is the whole point? My argument to vote - no matter the absurdity.
