The City players’ spin on yesterday reminds me of the MAGA people who paint themselves as victims for being *called* racist whilst actually being racist.

"Manchester City remain an outstanding football team" Oh, is that fucking so? Fuck me.

As disappointed as I am, this is probably the perfect result to sum up the sorry state of the Premier League as it stands. We’re watching a sham. The cheats still prosper.

Hard to devise a better metaphor for the past decade and a half of Premier League football than Man City winning while playing with an extra man.

A freak show that emphasised the farce of the Premier League's current unreality The response of City fans, which does complicate some of the discussion I think they are "victims" but that's harder when you're revelling in it (before the win) www.independent.co.uk/sport/footba...

Watching any Sham city game feels utterly void of meaning. Get them out of the premier league. #livmci

Perhaps the thing that makes me happiest is that this leaves absolutely no doubt that what Mikel Arteta has done - taking over a club filled with rot and leaks and turn it into a perennial winner, always in the conversation NO MATTER WHAT - is truly incredible.

I have seen lots of talk about the difficulty of schedules between Arsenal, Bayern, and PSG, so I wanted to try and look at it a bit more. This shows the strength of the opponent and also the % of the minutes in the match that were still competitive.

Millions of American voters wanted to be villains. They came to believe it’s the key to success, while goodness is weak, woke, loser stuff, done only to signal. Offered the option of unvarnished villainy, they enthusiastically took it. Seeing others suffer more made them feel big. And here we are.

Comment: amid all the debate about Chelsea, the most serious point has been overlooked A now-sanctioned oligarch was able to manipulate English football through industrialised cheating - and this is barely addressed The meaning of the payments is as big www.independent.co.uk/sport/footba...

on the bright side, if marc andreessen really does have the memory of a goldfish, there's still hope that he will decide it's a good idea to get in another wealthy weirdo's tin can to travel to the bottom of the sea

As a Manchester United fan I rightly expect absolutely no sympathy for the abject state of my club. I will also say: Wenger's Arsenal overwhelmed Manchester United fair and square, while Chelsea and Manchester City didn't, and football as a whole is still paying a huge price for that.

Wenger got mocked and memed for years on end while other clubs, particularly Chelsea, had to break the law repeatedly to beat his Arsenal side. It is shameful but of course capitalism has no shame.
