went down to the centrist convention. they’re all shaking and crying, I heard one guy say “I’m starting to think a better world IS possible.” the lady next to him slapped him in the face

“It’s easy to get your birth certificate”. Oh? How did you verify your identity to get your records? How do we know it’s yours? Oh, with the same ID that wasn’t good enough in the first place? That’s weird.

I miss the community I used to have around the YMAs, but my brain wouldn’t cooperate with all that reading these days even if there were no theoretical conflicts of interest

Every business, government agency, media outlet and human person that continues to post on or go near X is consciously collaborating with the most openly white supremacist public figure since Hitler. There is no excuse.

Middle aged parenthood is humming songs from Kpop Demon Hunters while realizing at this point your "type" when it comes to celebrities are guys who are proudly devoted to their hot wives 🤷‍♀️

If someone believes that immigrants are poison and need to be purged from America, a good housing plan will not convince them to vote for Democrats. If someone believes civil rights are vital and immigrants need to be protected, they will not be energized further by a good housing plan.

Healthcare for seniors is *not* waste, fraud, or abuse. Food for hungry kids is *not* waste, fraud, or abuse. A $45 military parade for a draft dodging felon *is* waste, fraud, and abuse. Paying the National Guard to attack US citizens *is* waste, fraud, and abuse.

This is why we once hashtagged “go to sleep Darren” in the early 2010s. Still hasn’t aged out of it.

HELL Kennedy@helenkennedy.com

Darren Criss did a matinee today, hosted the Tony pre show, did a live commercial for ice tea, and is about to sing a performance from MHE - and maybe throw in an acceptance speech too. What a busy boy.

I had a joke all ready to go about Hwaboon’s missing nomination but since the ignored the actually fabulous Helen J Chen it’s seems flat. #tonynominations #maybehappyending

As much as I love The Pitt and that particular character have I just missed all the commentary or was casting an able bodied actor only an issue when it was an opportunity to shit on Glee?

It’s nice to know that if you’re a terrible lawyer making a terrible argument before the Supreme Court one of the judges will literally put her thumb on the scales of justice for you

I hope every moderate Catholic in this country is paying attention to what evangelicals think about them. You might be down the list, but you’re on it.

Abrego Garcia has never even been charged with a crime. Donald Trump, in contrast, has been convicted, by a jury, of 34 felonies.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Leavitt lies about Abrego Garcia: "He is a foreign terrorist and criminal MS-13 gang member ... shame on Senator Chris Van Hollen and the entire Democrat Party who wasted Easter Sunday going on every TV show in the country to advocate for the return of an illegal criminal gang member."

can’t really be overstated how important it was that in an era where almost every single institution we have is being dragged towards fascism, one little old man devoted his life to shoving the world’s oldest institution towards more charity, grace and inclusivism.

I’d always assumed the claim that feminists “hate men and don’t actually want equality “ was simply bad faith. Now I’m thinking they just have experience with UK FARTs where male chromosomes make you evil and a vagina gives you special status

The conservative movement has turned against reality on every scientific issue of our time, from gun violence to climate change to epidemiology. If campuses are ideologically homogenous, it's not because academia has ostracized conservatives. It's because conservatives have ostracized academia.

It’s Wednesday, which is always a good day to remind you that trans people of all ages are people who deserve the same love and protection as anyone else. Fuck off TERFs. Fuck off transphobes.

There are 200 of them in the House. How about some of them worry about tariffs and some of them worry about the concentration camps and some of them worry about social security and stuff. There's enough work to go around.

Andrew Solender@andrewsolender.bsky.social

One House Dem called deportations a “soup du jour,” telling @axios.com Trump is “setting a trap for the Democrats, and like usual we're falling for it." “Rather than talking about the tariff policy ... we're going to go take the bait for one hairdresser.” www.axios.com/2025/04/16/d...

I am obligated to point out that no one in the Trump administration has presented a shred of evidence this man was involved in MS 13.

Can I take a minute from the world burning down to note on my return to fandom space I was perplexed to see people are just being out in the open about their self-insert now? Like who decided "Character Doe/You" is a thing? Kids these days.

Even accepting the premise that AI produces useful writing (which no one should), using AI in education is like using a forklift at the gym. The weights do not actually need to be moved from place to place. That is not the work. The work is what happens within you.

For those of us who have zero attention span and a need to escape reality you may be happy to discover A03 looks ready to meet your Pitt needs over the next year.

There are 8 billion people on Earth, twice as many as when I was born. The eugenicists are worried about an absolute non-issue. Unless they are ACTUALLY worried about the proportion of white people reducing comparatively, which I think is the true case.

That "screwed the working class" line enrages me. The working class has gotten screwed, esp by the crushing of unions. But the generous financial aid of top colleges gave me and many other working class kids opportunities we would never have had otherwise.
