Looking to watch our show, but daunted by the size of our video back catalogue? Might I suggest our "Suggested Viewing" playlist on YouTube, comprised of hand-picked episodes we feel serve as some of the best on-boarding onto the Bad Game Hall of Fame! www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

Tonight on Twitch at 6:00PM (PT): Join us for our annual "Monster Mash" episode, in which we assemble a motley crew of classic monsters! Would they ever congregate at a party? While skeptics declare it impossible, novelty songs seem to suggest quite the opposite. www.twitch.tv/badgamehallo...

'Cheesy' released on this day in 1996. An oddball 2.5D platformer for the PS1 (originally intended for the Atari Jaguar), starring a stressed-out mouse with a gun for an arm. Released to negative reviews, mostly honing in on its poor controls and pesky perspective issues.

'Blackwater' released on this day in 2011. An utterly shameless propaganda piece developed on behalf of the world's most notorious PMC (who'd rebranded before the game launched). Controllable by means of the Kinect, further adding to the tactical realism of committing war crimes.

'Skyscraper' released on this day in 2008. A budget FPS take on 'Die Hard' with a vision-impaired chemist dweeb for a protagonist, by way of the developers behind 'Beverly Hills Cop' on PS2 -- published by no less than shovelware titans Midas Interactive.

'Legendary' released on this day in 2008. One of a small handful of titles published by the short-lived Gamecock Media Group. An FPS which pits you against mythological creatures, dismally muddy visuals, and an endless procession of mindless combat encounters.

'Medal of Honor: Warfighter' released on this day in 2012. The sequel to 2010's franchise reboot, delivering more in the way of middling modern military shooting. Features an odd fascination with door breaching, and [now-defunct] multiplayer centered around two-person fireteams.

Warfighter would launch in largely broken state and sell dismally -- the latter fact owing in large part to EA positioning MoH in competition against their own Battlefield franchise. The series has effectively been placed on hiatus since (barring one VR-only title in 2020).

Someone please help me figure out what song this music loop from the Van Helsing game is ripping off, because it's been on the tip of my tongue since last night but I just can't place it.

Our latest episode of "A Cup of J2ME" hones in on horror movie tie-in games from the dumbphone era! Featuring feature phone fears and follies, plus plenty of horror movie discusso on the commentary end. youtu.be/Fld-0vEWTRs

'ClayFighter 63⅓' released on this day in 1997. When clay sculptures of funny animals and racist caricatures collide, there's hell to pay for players on N64. The game is clearly unfinished, and a late pivot from 2D to 3D arenas leads to issues with stage geometry getting in the way of fights.

‘Extreme Paintbrawl’ released on this day in 1998. Marketed as "The First Non-Violent 3D Shooter." Reportedly developed in just two weeks time, and leveraging a half-functional version of the Build engine that functions exclusively within MS-DOS running on Windows 95.

'Land of the Dead: Road to Fiddler's Green' released on this day in 2005. An underwhelming tie-in game to the underwhelming Romero zombie flick. Suffers from monotonous combat, braindead enemy AI, and haphazard level design. Its multiplayer mode did manage some longevity on PC.

'Skull Island: Rise of Kong' released on this day in 2023. Developed in a year's time by a studio working on behalf of GameMill, clearly hoping to capitalize on Kong's modern film resurgence. Widely mocked for its poor presentation, sub-par gameplay, and litany of glitches.

Your know it's gonna be a good one when the very first interaction with the game is broken www.twitch.tv/badgamehallo...

'007 Legends' released on this day in 2012. Activision's final title with the James Bond license. Intended to serve as a celebration of the film franchise's 50th anniversary - reinterpreting past movies as missions - the game was slammed as a half-hearted "Call of Duty clone."

In truth, I think the game is mostly fine: It's neat to revisit those classic films as Daniel Craig Bond, even if some of the choices are questionable. ('Die Another Day?' Really?) The biggest criticism should be the fact that its PC release has completely broken mouse input.

'Night Trap' released on this day in 1992. Perhaps the poster child for both the Sega CD and the whole FMV genre. A campy experiment in tedious memorization, most infamous for its involvement in a Senate hearing which threatened the legal status of the American games industry.

I saw this and just *had* to properly convey what I heard in my head

'Arthur's Quest: Battle for the Kingdom' released on this day in 2002. A loathsome fantasy slash 'em up courtesy of THQ's ValuSoft label, powered by Lithtech (the engine of choice for 00's budget FPS titles). Most famously featured in GameSpot's "Don't Play This Game" series.

Sorry for the last minute cancellation, but we won't be able to stream tonight. Join us this coming Thursday for a playthrough of Jumper: Griffin's Story on the Nintendo Wii.

'Ju-on: The Grudge' released on this day in 2009. Described as a "haunted house simulator," intended to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Ju-On film franchise. Sluggish traversal is occasionally punctuated by laughable attempts at jump scares, but mostly by tedious QTEs.

'Duke Nukem 3D' on the Sega Mega Drive released on this day in 1998. Tec Toy's "conversion" of Duke 3D to the Mega Drive is nothing short of a technical marvel. Unfortunately; it is also frustratingly clunky, notoriously difficult, and challenging to even visually parse.

'Link: The Faces of Evil' and 'Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon' released on this day in 1993. Developed under a licensing agreement, owing to Nintendo's dealings with Philips. These two action-adventure Zelda titles have gone down in infamy, primarily for their uncanny animation.

For gameplay pain points: Poor collision detection, unclear background elements, and clumsy control mapping are the major culprits. All told, both games would've likely flown under the radar as "passable" genre titles, if not for their odd connection to the Zelda franchise.
