We have media availability today with UMD coaches, but the men will be missing Max Plante (upper body) for a fourth straight weekend and Trevor Stachowiak (lower) for a third straight. Everyone else is practicing and presumably available for selection at Colorado College Friday and Saturday.

This is fucking awesome. Forever the only signage that showed UMD played there was a Bulldog head on the west side of Amsoil.

Bruce Ciskie@bruceciskie.bsky.social

This is new.

you love to see.

Operatives aligned with Alaska Democratic Senate nominee Mary Peltola spent months recruiting candidates to peel votes from her Republican rival. The group worked to coax would-be spoilers into the race to dilute the incumbent's support and help catapult Peltola to victory. trib.al/gWKhuWh

Exactly. The kind of thinking that "This person believes that so you shouldn't watch or enjoy" is exhausting and pointless.

Mina Kimes@minakimes.bsky.social

If you’re looking to enjoy *anything* where there are no abusers or men doing bad things, good luck finding it. The minority of bad actors won’t prevent me from working in a sport I love, or drawing attention to its problems.

A good morning to all from NYT/Siena, who has: #MNSEN Flanagan up 54-40 #SCSen Andrews down 48-48 (rounded) #FLSen Nixon down 50-44 Writeups to come

I'm not retiring for 30 years...which will be enough to live through several AI induced booms and busts. It's like living during the railroad expansion in the late 1800s!

NEW: Millions of teachers, law enforcement officers and other public workers depend on pensions in retirement. Those savings increasingly may be at risk, as jubilation about an A.I. boom turns to fear about an A.I. bubble -- sparking concern nationwide www.nytimes.com/2026/10/27/b...

Much like Maxiumus Plante...better now than March. Team will be ok without him...although maybe not because it's basketball so one player much more critical.

Just in: Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his ailing right knee and miss up to two months, sources tell ESPN.

lol "frank the tank impression to entertain people born in 2007". I'm never gonna forget this.

I grew up in Chanhassen and back then during George W. Bush it was reliably republican. 60-40 so. Now since 2016 suburbs like it have shifted more blue. It's basically 50/50 and maybe changing blue than red? TBD.

MinnPost@minnpost.com

Two House districts in the Shakopee, Chanhassen and Chaska areas feature rematches this year. Although they share borders, they feature distinct points of contention on campaign trails.

The Brewers offense keeps coming and coming. While as a Minnesotan I am rooting for them it is a bit hard being a Wisconsin team. I'm jealous now. Wasn't so for the Bucks because it's basketball and it's my least favorite major sport.

Haha watching all these chuds get mad at Obama for a very funny line is giving me life.

A butthurt Trump copes by defending the Cheesecake Factory: "I fix things very good, very beautifully and I always build beautiful and inexpensive... He said, this isn't a Cheesecake Factory, can you believe it, which is a very successful company... He doesn't like successful companies"

Hahah going to Mississippi to defend a seat is great. You love to see it.

The New York Times@nytimes.com

President Trump is heading to Mississippi for his tour of Republican strongholds to campaign for Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, a Republican who is defending her seat against Scott Colom, a Democrat. Here's what to know about the race. nyti.ms/4ez1w8l

Of note is that Providence is at 5. UMD and PC will play each during the Friendship Four. Will be a top 10 or better matchup in Belfast. Big NPI implications plus it could be a Frozen Four preview. Maybe the highest ranking matchup at the Friendship Four?

Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

Ayyy

Taniel@taniel.bsky.social

Lula has been reelected president, Brazilian media has now called. An extraordinary comeback for the left-wing politician who trailed by 2 points in round 1 but managed to hold off Flávio Bolsonaro, the former president's son.

That's so true...using AI is punishing yourself.

Chuck Tingle@chucktingle.bsky.social

ive talked on how i wont engage with writers who use ai, i wont eat at a restaurant with an ai menu, i wont have anything to do with it. but what this post illustrates is regardless of how OTHERS react, ultimately the worst part about using ai is that you are punishing YOURSELF and dont even know it

UMD heads into NCHC play at 5-1-2 with no regulation losses. Far from perfect, but still pretty good if you ask me.

Barrett Hall and Grayden Siepmann are indeed not healthy. Hall made the trip but will not play. Siepmann stayed back in Duluth. Doesn't seem like either player is thought to be out long term, but I'll let Scott Sandelin disclose whatever he feels is appropriate after the game if he is so inclined.

Bummer

Matt Wellens@mattwellens.bsky.social

Barrett Hall and Grayden Siepmann both OUT for Game 2. D pairs jumbled. Kade Kohanski returns to play alongside the Plantes.

I can't believe I saw this on tv. It's former LA Gov Bobby Jindal's fault we are seeing these ads. lol what even

Voters are begging for economic relief and Republicans are running dumb, sloppy campaign ads like this during the Michigan-Indiana game.

Hello from Sanford Center.

for those that don't know, Google is trying to build a giant data center about 15 minutes drive from Amsoil in Hermantown. Lots of pushback on that from residents.

Exactly what they needed to do. Excellent work.

Hooray! 2027 Frozen Four ticket in DC purchased! Hopefully I won't be using that seat, as I'm hopeful UMD will make it and I would sell that seat and get tickets w/ the UMD allotment. Prior the Max Plante injury it felt like an assured thing (a silly belief in hindsight) and now not so much.

I'm assuming Max will be back in December and then it will be all about how long it takes for him to get back at 100% gameshape. Will be a huge boost to the team but won't make them a juggernaught This injury really reduces UMD's chancing of winning the NCHC. Which is par for the course.

Gah this stresses me out...counter point? They're wrong and screw em.

BREAKING: The Trump Justice Department has moved to preemptively block certification of the results of Alaska's Senate race if Republican incumbent Sen. Dan S. Sullivan loses.

Oooh it's my turn to buy Frozen Four tickets today! I was thinking why I'm so much later than others...but realized for 4 of the 9 Frozen Fours I've been to, I bought tickets through UMD and not the NCAA.
