"I can't believe they've turned my racism against me" - mysterious racist shadow lady

josh boo-erman 👻@bosh.worstpossible.world

just saw this absolutely cracked ad during the michigan game about how thanks to aoc and ilhan omar, white people can't show their faces in public anymore

His critique doesn't even make any sense. The small indie developers are the ones MOST harmed by the fully automated theft machine? People have been making indie games very cheaply by themselves for decades.

it really does feel like they just got away with unprecedented amount of theft of expertise, and are now profiting off of it while replacing the professional opportunities for the very crafts and humans it trained on I never thought I would see the concept of expertise get so devalued

#AI 1/2 I've been a professional software developer for many years. I'd bet many lines of code I've created are in the training data. I didn't consent to that, I'm not being attributed, and I'm not being compensated for it, yet my work is being used to create a profitable enterprise anyway.

2/2 Worse yet, it's a profitable enterprise whose purpose is to devalue the very work I did that it was built on, eventually rendering my work and my skills worthless. A clear cut case of theft. If anything, theft isn't a strong enough word to describe it. Why is anyone ok with this?

I feel like what #AI people in the #gamedev space don't get is that I don't want infinite personally customized ai generated content. I want to have an experience another human being thoughtfulklly created, something I can share in with other people. Otherwise it's just meaningless noise.

Can someone please figure out how to make a no AI allowed space that is actually capable of enforcing it? I'd pay if I could know for sure my work won't be scraped if I post it and everyone I'm speaking to is a real human.

#AI is destroying everything I care about. Just keeps racking up more and more reasons to hate it and lose faith in there being any kind of future.

My friend made a cool game on a game jam and within a month a slopclone of it is on Steam. This is happening every day for indie devs and I hate it.

This is what I've been saying. I tried to warn colleagues and watched a few of them dive in head first only to be disappointed. People intuitively understand anything #AI generated is worthless. Think your own thoughts, write your own code, create your own art. No one wants generated garbage.

futurism.comThe Economy Has Spoken: Stuff That's AI-Generated Has Almost Zero Value3D assets marketplace CGTrader is being flooded by AI slop, but nobody is buying it, suggesting AI isn't "repricing the market."

Plus, do you really want to be reliant on a third party service that could easily rugpull you at any time? The cost of these services (and they are services, not tools) is likely to increase and the terms are likely to become less favorable to normal people. Instead, you could just learn and grow.

No one is going to pay for your ai generated game, music, art, writing, app, whatever. Even including genAI in your work is going to be risky, especially as regulators rightfully push for things like watermarking generated content.

Just popped over to twitter to see if it's as bad as I remember. It's just a straight up avalanche of bots spamming doomerism, rage bait and nazi propaganda. #AI has completely sapped the already wanjng joy out of life and rapidly made everything 1000x shittier. Is there any hope?

Evolutionary pressure: lol I know let's make it advantageous for them to be aware that they're monkeys doomed to die, like pretty soon too haha Great pranks of nature

Good. Right now this only applies to social media, but it's only a matter of time before it applies to products as well. That would mean that any game studio planning to sell in the EU - i.e all of them - would need to disclose their Gen AI use or risk some hefty fines. Bring it on.

I can't do this. I can’t give up my favorite foods cold turkey. Oh my god, turkey… with pillowy mounds of mashed potatoes… butter drenched dressing… tiny onions… swimming in a sea of cream sauce.

Getting the itch to get back into #gamedev by starting a new #Godot project. I guess I could revive one of the many older projects I never finished, too. How do people manage to stick to one project long enough to finish it? Is there a secret or is it just me?

You've been asking for this and I'm finally delivering (tomorrow). CC0 skyboxes, compatible with most game engines and completely free. ☁️

Further proof that everyone intuitively understands anything generated by #AI is inherently worthless. If it weren't, then disclosing the use of it in games wouldn't bother the "shareholder value over all" crowd. Dare I say it? Could it be that the tech bros are... wrong? Again? Nah, couldn't be.

I'm playing Legend of Zelda Master Quest for the first time and I'm now hungry for more Zelda-likes. I need suggestions, anything you got that might scratch this itch plz

I've been receiving emails daily (!) whether I'd be willing to promote Meshy (crappy AI 3D model generator) for cash. Obviously I don't, I'd much rather tell you all that it's crap for free :)
